We have a lot of chicks plus eggs in the bator right now.

I'm done seeing all the meat gone at the grocery stores. I don't see how people can't butcher their own animals... If there was any time to start it would be now!

I want to learn how to so badly.

those poor things.

That's wild, based on the last time I went to my local feed stores (for chicks), they hadn't started with store pick up, or curb side pick up! I assume they'll have a section where they set out chicks that has heating and maybe a security camera, I mean that's the only way I could see them doing it.

Yeah, maybe, idk. They usually have a big huge super tall brooder in the middle of the store. Like a big rack thing with multiple levels and heaters in the back, feed & water troughs attached to the outside, etc. so I doubt they’ll move that outside but idk. They will probably have you just call or email and order chicks in advance and pick them for you I guess.

Well VAs governor made a huge announcement that he was going to have this press conference, but he's not saying anything different than he did on Friday Wants media attention I guess

I think the Stay at Home order is new. I've been following closely because I've wanted him to to call for it and and we didn't have that yesterday.
People here think this whole thing is just one big vacation and are doing all their normal things, including get togethers and church.

See where we live no one has been like that. On Friday he said stay at home too. I've been doing it all along because who really wants to catch this virus and test their fate?

I hope so!!! I’m impatient.

Yeah I have a flock of low quality wheaten Ameraucanas (roo and hens) and half wheaten am easter eggers (hens only). I wanna work on the lines but that means hatching out a LOT of chicks. We might do more than that.

We got a chicken plucker this year. That's where all the roos and retiring hens will probably end up, the cull pullets will probably be sold as easter eggers (since they basically are).

And just chickens. We don't own other birds. Just the one flock. It's 8 chickens total right now but we have the capacity for more.

That sounds awesome!!! I started with 8 (well technically 9 but one died early on) and kept that number or under for 4 years but then last year I added 5 new pullets and then I hatched eggs (and got only one girl out of 9) and now I’m keeping a cockerel and chicken math has exploded.

I learned from YouTube videos too. It's pretty simple.

I'm wondering if a lot of people bought these chicks thinking that they would start laying eggs pretty soon because we may see a lot of complaint threads on here

That sounds awesome!!! I started with 8 (well technically 9 but one died early on) and kept that number or under for 4 years but then last year I added 5 new pullets and then I hatched eggs (and got only one girl out of 9) and now I’m keeping a cockerel and chicken math has exploded.

Only thing is you are going to have to butcher because what else are you going to do with the chicks?

You can't be running around selling chicks to people when there is a virus out there that they are trying to stop from spreading.

And some don't want to deal with butchering

I didn't need an order, it's the ones who won't listen or stay home that needed it. I have been staying home, only going out once a week for necessities. It pisses me off how some people are acting like this.
