Watching the local news and saw a very cool report about a company here in AZ. They are tracking the genetic makeup of the virus to figure out where different strains are coming from and how to attack them.
Each case can have a different genetic makeup. They can track which states/countries the different strains are coming from and which are related. This allows health officials to see which are causing the biggest/most severe outbreaks to determine which need a lot of attention.
Some strains can even fizzle out. In our state it came from Europe. They're also watching for mutations that could impact the effectiveness of testing and future vaccines.

Very cool stuff!

Remember when I said I had a lot of seeds? That was an understatement.... 😂🙈

Gurrrl... *shakes head*

Here's mine. Bigger bin on left is packets currently in use. Smaller bin is unopened packets, varieties that have fallen out of favor (but might try again), and plant markers. I have another bin in garage (which I use to carry seeds in and out in) that has maybe a dozen packets that I recently planted from.

Friend of a friend passed away from COVID this week. Nobody I knew but that's starting to get pretty close to home.

My friend in NYC said her friend's co-worker's son passed from it. Obviously not someone she knew directly but I think she's starting to get 9/11 flashbacks, where everyone knew someone who was directly affected.

I had seen a report from Dubai that they were doing that weeks ago, they had a milder virus than Italy, for example

I think this is another reason why different states in the US are getting hit harder than others. WA state's was likely brought in from Wuhan, China. NY's might've come from Italy or Iran.

Welcome, Hoping and Wishing!

So sorry you son had it but glad he's one of the recovery stories. It sounds like it was grueling for him and even emotionally for you.

Was he able to restrict it to himself or are there others living with him who might have caught it? If he managed to limit it to himself what tips does he have for accomplishing that?
Thank you. It was. They stayed in different rooms /floors in the house and used different bathrooms. Washing hands 50 times a day, his housemate said. They are in the construction business and had those kind of masks. Only one used the refrigerator and cooked. Its just been him, so far, thank goodness.

Oh wow I had no idea they were so agile or troublesome! Haha reminds me of that movie though though where they’re tearing up the golf course. Groundhog Day I think it was. That was hilarious. Though maybe not for the people actually dealing with it. I’m glad we don’t have groundhogs here.
Not Groundhog Day, that was CADDYSHACK!!! Classic!

My brother and I got take out food Sunday(from a drive up). A woman in the back(working) remarked to her co worker that she couldn't smell anything anymore. My brother told me that is a symptom of the virus. Does anyone know if that is true.?

I am finding I am not enjoying the taste of anything I eat- even sweets, and other things I loved to eat. In fact I really don't care to eat or try anything at all. Does this ring a covid bell? I am alone except for shopping on Sundays with my brother.
He has major health risk factors (heart & diabetes) and is 69. I DO NOT HAVE HEALTH factors that I know of and am 72+.
