I did a poster for a wedding for an older couple that loved dogs. They specifically wanted all elderly dogs in shelters on it with profiles of each dog to encourage their guests to adopt. They had also arranged with the shelter to bring a few of the dogs "as guests" to their wedding....it felt a little heavy handed and I did not enjoy doing it. Especially since they also had me design a box and "ballots" for people to fill out to adopt. It felt like they were guilting their guests into adopting and I wasnt even at the wedding lol. We personally chose not to get a puppy when we adopted...but she's not a senior dog. Honestly when you adopt or buy you are setting yourself up for outliving that animal and heartache. I guess people like to think of it otherwise.
I'd rather adopt an older dog and let it live the rest of it's life in a home than a cage.

I have had puppies, but older dogs are just so special.

I think what that couple did at their wedding was beautiful.

As some of you will remember, my daughter was hospitalized with a stroke 4 days ago. I thank you for all your warm thoughts and kind words, and wanted to update that she is back home now. She only had mild covid symptoms but she had a stroke, and is having a hard time talking/communicating. They say this will get better the more she talks, writes, types, etc. Kind of like rebooting the brain. She's only 39, and was in absolute perfect health. Has anyone else heard of this happening to other covid sufferers?

Thinking of you and your daughter. :hugs I hope she can make a full recovery! Thank you so much for updating us on this. I think the scariest part of all this isn't the initial symptoms that are showing up, but the after effects that are only now being reported on and compiled.

Falling in love ends in heartache of one kind or another, too. That's no reason not to do it! 😉

I was going to say that it doesn't matter if you adopt older or younger, the animal will most likely pass away either way before you.
Exactly!!! Plus older animals need love too. I think it’s sweet. And I don’t think it was necessarily guilting either. I mean, if they can help the dogs potentially find homes and happiness and help out, why not? Sure no one was forced to adopt the dogs or anything haha they clearly just wanted to help and I think that’s a wonderful thing they did. :love

DB & SIL has for I think either the actual wedding or the shower, I forget, but they had people donate to the rescue they got some of their dogs from and volunteer for a lot.

I think it’s nice. :love

No one adopts black or dark colored animals either. It’s so sad. :(

Obviously cats cause of all the superstition and people don’t like dark dogs either for whatever reason. I think they’re more afraid of them than lighter animals or maybe worry they will be able to see the fur more when they shed or something. Idk. It’s ridiculous. They’re just as good as any other dog.

Roosters need love too! But I wish BEN would keep his beak out of my popcorn!

Lucy my beagle was headed to a kill shelter. We saved her before they brought her. She probably would've been put down because no one wants a 4 year old beagle that is scared of everything... She's now 7 and my buddy
