I have been up since 5:30. My chicken alarm went off. After my interrupted sleep I think I got a total of maybe 5 hours.

I worked on the duck house framing walls up. Then my interruption of hubs lunch hour and the Malamute feeding.....she is a pain in the butt.

I will finally get to go back to framing in a few minutes. Rain is coming....those clouds are dark.
Be happy my"Beetov-Hen" isn't there to supervise your build!:lau

Back from the feed store! It was a zoo there, but thanks to the appointment system everyone just waited in a queue area (with social distance tape marks on the ground) until their appointment time. The chick room was 1 employee handling and boxing up birds for 1 customer at a time.

Minor panic as one hatchery's shipment was late, so we made a second appointment to go tomorrow to get the chicks from that late shipment, but then the shipment arrived so the full list of chicks (plus some bonus breeds that weren't previously scheduled) were available.

Our plan was to get 3. Of course chicken math happened - again - and we got 4: a Sicilian Buttercup, a Salmon Faverolle, a Dominique, and an Olive Egger.

I wish I could find those breeds. I can find them but I have to wait to long for them so I don’t bother.

Oh so cute!!
I've always wanted some Salmon Faverolles but right now I'm not set up for anything with feathery feet. Maybe next year. Your babies are adorable.

I am keeping things square I swear!!!!!
I dunno...I just got a call and some hen squalked in my ear instructing that I take the phone out to my hens. I noticed there was a lot of scratching of the feathertops and talk of plumb, though one of the hens thought it was plums and started drooling...

So far I am happy with square.....plumb will happen when I have a second set of hands in a few hours. :th

Don't worry. Rudy is keeping an eye on me.

Yeah I've never been able to get all these breeds available on the same day (mainly the Faverolle and Buttercup, hubby's been asking for a Buttercup since we got our first chickens) so we were pretty lucky. The feed store only ordered like 10 of each. The Olive Eggers weren't on the list for today but the hatchery sent a few, so I figured grab one while I can - I spotted maybe 5 or 6 in the bin.

We're not an ideal climate for feathered feet, but our FBCM has done fine, and I've seen other folks around here with Faverolles, so figured it shouldn't be a huge issue.

Going to post in a few places....Glad I got my sister home from the nursing home before anything could get started there with the virus. A few nursing homes have it going through. She's in transition now. Only a short time left. Glad I could have her here to spoil her. I'm going to miss that sweet giggle of hers. Prayers that this part can go smoothly for her..she's had it more rough than some having stopped dialysis. 5 weeks yesterday. Keeping her sleepy. This is hard.

Blessings to you and your sister. So glad she can be home with you during this time. ❤
