I've heard what is the nightmare from my teacher friends too and have great compassion towards them and all they are doing!! It's the districts, school boards, and the like that frustrate me. Frustrate my friends too because often they don't know what's happening either until it happens.
Two days before schools shut down in March, I asked the higher ups at kiddo's school what was going on and if a shut down was coming. I was told no and not to worry about it. Then Bam, closed.
Kiddo's teachers, especially the art teacher, went above and beyond for her kids. She still is even over the summer. Kiddo's teachers we love and respect very much....some of the folks above them...mmmm.
I'm a teacher. I absolutely understand what you're saying, but I don't envy the administration one bit. Guidelines from the authorities are changing all the time, limited resources, griping community no matter what they do. I'm sure some could do much better, but I really appreciate leadership in our district.

I've got to tell an auction story. We went to the auction one year. There was a young boy (dressed in clean but well worn clothes) who bid $72.50 on every pony that came up. Of course that's only a starting bid for Chincoteague ponies. They were down to the last 2 or 3 ponies, and the kid makes his bid. The auctioneer yells SOLD ! and everyone cheered as the boy cried. I talked to the auctioneer later and he said that he donates his services, and every now and then such a kid comes along and the fire company has given approval to handle it this way. :love
I have a friend who grew up in Chincoteague and she tells a similar story. There was a running tradition with the locals. When a kid like that came up, as the last ponies were selling, the people in the stands started collecting ... and someone handed the kid a wad of bills. Apparently, the auctioneer was in on the action, too, and whatever that child's wide-eyed bid was, he accepted it! Everybody won ... the Fire company, the child, the people who helped, and the pony!
She hasn't been back since her grandparents passed and the house was sold, so I've been curious to know if that continued. Now I know. Thanks!
