Hi ...I have a 3 year old Buff Orpington chicken that has developed a "cough"....this cough comes and goes....over the last several months.
She seems perfectly fine....eating, drinking, active and laying eggs.
I have 4 other chickens none have come down with the "cough".
I've tried adding ACV to the drinking water, as well as Vet Rx...nothing seems to help her.
Right now her "cough" is the worst its been.
She doesn't seem to be suffering, just coughing and shaking her head. No discharge anywhere.
I'm at a loss. Suggestions?

Thanks! Kim

Does she only cough while in the coop, or does she do it outside too? I'm just wondering if it could be either dust related or possibly that she's swallowed a bit of bedding?? Especially since it sounds like it's not continuous, but only intermittent.

If she doesn't seem overly distressed by the coughing fits, and she's eating/drinking/active, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. But if it's happening a lot, and she seems to be becoming increasingly distressed by it, then you might pursue other avenues...maybe treat for respiratory illness (I like to use Tylan 50)???
