Could August be a Maran?

Hi all
It was suggested that I post in here when August is 2 months old.
But I was curious to see what others ideas of the result could be.
Today August is 32 days old.
The yellow hatch-mates are already fully feathered. August seems to be about a week or so behind them in development, but happy and healthy otherwise I think.
On this ranch there are multiple breeds of roosters and hens so its a total crapshoot either way lol.


Feathers are developing on his/her back before all the down on the wings is finished shedding. The feathers are growing in weird patches.

Sometimes when August stands and reaches for stuff the stance makes me think roo. Then other times August will nestle down and look like a hen on a nest.

Any thoughts on potential breeds or gender t this stage? Guesses?
I will keep updating with pics as (s)he grows.

With those feathered legs, I'd say there's some marans in there, but not a full bred. I say that because Marans have white legs. Perhaps its a marans/ameraucana cross to make an olive egger?

It could be any feather legged breed that comes in black, or a cross of any feather legged breed. Black copper Marans have white skin, so look at the bottoms of the bird's feet. If they are white/pinkish, then Marans is a possibility. If yellowish under the feet, then it isn't a purebred Marans.

I know August is not pure. Im not even sure that the hen who hatched him/her is the original layer.
Im thinking of taking some pics of the hen and all the roosters a s sharing.
Maybe we can .mame a game of it?

Yeah, but in cases like these it's pretty difficult to know for sure.

I do not doubt that in the least.
But I am having fun trying to figure it out
