Correct. Currently, no coronavirus vaccine is fully approved by the FDA, but three were given emergency use authorization.

The reason is that the FDA requires 6 full months of data after vaccines are rolled out before they can rule on full authorization. So, we are just now at six months since the first vaccines came out in the US. Pfizer has already requested full approval and is being reviewed for such.

Husband and I are both fully vaccinated, me with Moderna, him with Pfizer. Neither of us had any reactions beyond being a bit tired the day after. I'm waiting to get my young child vaccinated, too. I hope the approval happens soon.

Covid infection also carries a risk of long-term damage to the heart and other organs.

Getting vaccinated has an infinitesimal risk of adverse affects; Covid has a much higher risk of well-documented array of adverse impacts. Including death.
