Coyote Problem *Update* w/ graphic pic

Year round season in Washington, 24 hours a day, except that you need to let enforcemnt know if you are actively hunting them at night during deer & elk season (spotlighting). If it is the act of depredation, fire away.

yeah, we definitely plan on getting them. Our huntress friend thinks it is a pair with pups.

Again, we would fence in an area, but it just isn't feasible with the where the coop is in relation to the house, one of our barns, the horse field, and an adjacent hay field. One of the driveways also cuts right in between where the coop is and the yard, so to speak.

We really want to nip this in the butt before 1.) we have the baby, 2.) we get anymore chickens, 3.) we let our 2 new kittens outside, 4.) we get any other livestock like sheep or goats.

DH has checked many of the dens, but there are hundreds on the property, and probably a hundred more on bordering properties.

Great Pyrenees are great for your issue. My boss has them for his goat herd. Good companions too, I hear.

Well, persistence pays off! DH heard the pack howling and yipping yesterday afternoon. He grabbed his shotgun and .357, and off he went! The pack escaped, but DH knows for sure now that there are about 5 in the pack. This lone, young male was spotted a few hundred yards away from the pack. DH got him in one shot! (but shot a few more before he picked him up; DH hates for any animal to suffer, and certainly didn't want a dying animal to attack)

I am not afraid of much out in the woods but yes, we too are in VA and I have had my own run in with the coyotes around us. Good luck with cutting down on the pack Noitulover, they can be very bold.

Few years back I heard my horses thundering around in the wee hours of the night. Came out in my night shirt and at the far corner of my pasture, right on the dirt road, was a rather large pack of coyotes, when I noticed them they all were watching me so I slowly stopped, backed up and ran to the house. At the time I didn't have chickens but now, I would probably wake my husband up. I hope that with us target practicing and sighting weapons on our back property, they will stay away.

I want a Jack and Diana Donkey pair!!! We just lost 2 chickens in 5 days and believe it to be coyote. Can't have donkeys and DH will never put up an electric fence

so they are now in the coop/run 24/7. So sad.

start hunting! DH says the best ways he has learned, are to bathe with unscented soap, line dry your clothes, and hunt so the wind is in your favor.
