Crafters- What are you making???

Made tuffets for granddaughter and nieces. Turned out great with wooden stools, patchworked material and ribboned ruffles. Each used some of the same materials but then individualized with gingham in favorite color. Will post picture when they're ready. Was lots of fun. Haven't patchworked in years, will be starting it up again. Can't crochet like used to...arthritis. Nice to find something new.

I've just finished making 20+ pincushions using water bottle lids. I found the pattern on the 'net. They were VERY easy to do, only taking a few hours to do all of them.

I glued circles of felt to the bottoms of the lids. I had picked up a piece of quilt batting at Goodwill a while back that I used for the stuffing. I cut a square(ish) out, folded and rolled it.

I had some quilting squares left-over from a quilt project that I cut into approximate 3" rounds. I crammed the quilt bat rolls into the rounds and stuffed the ends of the round into the lids after putting a thread of craft glue around the inside rim of the lids.

Trim the outside of the lid with pretty ribbon and there you have it.

These great little cushions fit wonderfully into the 'nook' of your thumb.

The reason I made so many? I have about that many leaders, co-leaders and volunteers in my Girl Scout Neighborhood, of which I am the Team Leader. I'm hosting a "Patchwork" Investiture Ceremony next week and these are the leader's gifts along with their pins.

I'll get a pic here in a bit.

I also have a young lady who is receiving her Silver Award as well.

These were SO much fun and incredibly easy to make.

Edited to add, before I stuffed the batting into the fabric rounds, I sewed crochet thread around the circle so I could easily gather the fabric around the batting. I tied off the ends before gluing this into the lids.

I kind of put together bits from each of these:

I did make one of the felt ones in the first link. However, my hand stitching leaves juuuuuuuuust a bit to be desired.

I didn't care a lot for how it turned out. It took longer to do than the others did as well.

The second link shows the pattern I followed mostly. I did consider putting in a bit of sand to sharpen the needles, or lavender, etc for the scent, but decided against it.

Thanks browneyes, now I will be making pin cushions for everybody, whether they need it or not.

I will try one tomorrow. Can you use a milk jug lid? Or does it have to be metal?

I used plastic water and coke bottle lids. Wondered about milk jug lids, but was concerned there wouldn't be quite enough base to make it sturdy, plus those are larger around and would make it difficult or even impossible to hold it between the thumb and hand. If you try one with the milk jug lid, be sure to let us know how it turns out! I'm curious what you think.

Those are so cute browneyes!!! I so miss the Girl Scout troop leader days!!! Every mother should do that with their daughter, the crafting and the camping all soooo much fun and then they are grown

So I am assuming that these are going to be very small? Right?

I got to looking at the top of a drink bottle and realized the size. They would be very useful though and you could make several for the area that you are working in.

Gonna go and make one since we are covered in a thin sheet of unforcasted ice outside.
