I'm waiting on fabric to arrive in the mail. Also doing some cross-stitch (thanks mp) and I am knitting an I-CORD out of yarn I won't use for anything else (scratchy) I'm planning on rolling it around and around and around, sewing it together and making a rug for the kitchen or bathroom - IF it gets finished.

My neighbor does cakes and catering for a living and I'm constantly picking her brain. Here is her site www.adamscakes.com, she does some beautiful cakes. Here is my attempt at a carousel cake for my DD 3 yr old party...

Not on the technical level. But my mom took the class years ago, and I learned from watching her, that and her arthritis got so bad, half the time, I'd finish the cakes for her. It's really neat. Please tell me they arent teaching only to use fondant, that stuff is disgusting!

Nope, there *is* a fondant class if one wants to learn that, but you have to learn all the buttercream techniques first. I'm going to learn how to frost a cake so that it is nice and flat, make roses, letters, and borders. It should be pretty awesome since I don't know how to do any of that with the decorating bags.

ooooh ooooh!!! I want to do that too!! I am seriously considering taking that class too! I don't decorate cakes, but I have always wanted to learn how! Matter of fact I have the paper next to me.

You should totally do it!

It would be a useful skill that you could use in real life. I'm just learning so that I can make pretty birthday cakes and cupcakes and such. Mine right now are just baked and frosted with frosting out of the plastic tubs from the store...

I know I can do better than that. Ha ha.

wanna get frosting smooth on a cake? dip your spreading knife. (wide blade) in hottish warm water, then smear it across. hehehe Make sure all the drips are off first. Drips will look like faded polka dots.
