Thank you. Yes, they are real logs. Make sure they will set level, if not shave a bit off the bottom so they will set level. Glue a piece of felt on the bottom to protect your furniture. My dh cuts them about 12 inches long or so. Then he drills two or three holes in them for candles.
Now the fun part...put parafin wax in a metal can/bowl and set into a pan of water(about two or three inches of water) I use an old stainless steel bowl in an old skillet. I use to use coffee cans but they no longer make them in metal.
Melt the wax until clear, CAREFULLY set the bowl of melted wax aside until it cools enough to form a skim across the entire top. I set mine outside as in this weather it cools quickly.
Bring the bowl back inside and use a hand mixer to whip the wax as you would egg whites.
The wax will whip up like whipped cream. Only whip it until you have whipped wax across the top of the bowl, do not whip the entire bowl as the wax sets quickly. I then take a large spoon and drop the "snow" anywhere I want it. It looks better if you sprinkle the "snow" with silver or clear glitter to make it sparkle. Then while the "snow" is still warm and pliable set your decorations into it. I buy those cheap Christmas corsages or Dollar General decorations and pull them apart. I have made them with tiny animals hidden beneath the "bushes", etc. I set the candles in before applying the "snow" with a dab of wax in the holes to "set" the candles. Being a real log, they dry out in a couple years and have to be replaced. Just about every friend and neighbor of mine has one, not to mention every family member. LOL I use to make little Santa's houses but they take a lot more work. These whip up very fast. Oh, keep whipping the wax as you add/need more "snow".

Congrats Jean! It's always nice to hear about healthy babies.

Ozark those are great. I will have to sneak a couple of small logs out of the pile before DH splits them all. We also had one for the table when I was a child.

Jerk father called a couple of hours after we gave him the girls. They wanted to talk to us, they missed us. He also called yesterday, the girls wanted to talk to their brother and their cousin. Father also told me that we can call them any time during the weekend!! I was so surprised. I am assuming that the girls keep asking about us and wanting to talk to us, so this will keep them satisfied a bit. At least we will have some contact now. Their brother is happier, he was worried that he wouldn't be able to talk to them the whole six months.

Monica I am so glad to hear this I have been praying so hard for you and your family. It is always nice to hear good news. Hang in there. Here in MI they don't split family up if they can help it. So sad that they split this family.

Carrie beautiful logs thanks so much for sharing. I might just have to try to fit them in this year if not then next.

Right now my list is

2 sets of raggedy Ann and Andy dolls 15 inchs
7 purses
2 sets of aprons for little boys. They have flaming dragons one is red the other is blue
2 pair of oven mitts to match the aprons
4 pairs of small boy pj's
2 pair of adult men pj's

I have to get this done this week. Well at least the raggedy dolls as they have to go to SC and then on to England. And man I don't feel like sewing LOL I can save the rest for next 2 weeks LOL. At least everything is all cut out and ready to go. Won't take long it is just to make myself set down and do it.

I also have to get some spiders finished LOL all that is left on those is the leggggggggs. LOL
