Do you know how much corn you have in there? A cup or two or?

I'd love to have the heat last for hours! I'm tired of running to the microwave to heat this little sucker up!

Cold feet reminded me........mom uses the corn bags during the winter for her bed. Warms one up, puts it in the bed where her feet will be, and voila.......by the time she's got her PJs on, the bed's nice a toasty warm.

Here is the one I have. I am wondering why can't I fill some with the cracked corn I have in the coop feed barrels??
The inner material seems to be a muslin/cotton. The outer sleeve for it is just a plain cotton. sorry it is so dirty

The entire length of material is about 18 inches long and then hemmed up to about 17 1/2 inches by 5(finished)inches. You can make these any size at all. We wrap ours in a hand towel at first as it is too hot to place directly on bare skin.

sorry, wildsky, I would have to guess on how much corn is in there. It is not packed hard in there, for as large as it is I would guess over five cups? If I pick it up on one end you will end up with empty material in your hand on one end...make sense???

Can you guess the weight?
I looked last time in town at the corn, but I didn't want ot buy a HUGE 40 pound bag of the stuff, I think the small bag is around 4 pounds. Perhaps I'll buy that and give it a try.

The longer heat would be nice for the kids - they take their bags to bed, but they don't last very long.

I think this is over four pounds but I am not good at guessing weights. Like I said, I think it depends on what size you make. I can only assume that the larger the bag the longer the heat retention?
Does anyone know if I can use the "chops" or cracked corn in them? I just realized that cracked corn won't work or it would have too many sharp edges.

Give it a try and let us know - not sure why you couldn't use it - perhaps it doesn't hold heat long.
Perhaps put some in a jug or other glass container and shove it in the micro for a few seconds.

For that annoying person in your family - the perfect gift.

A rice bag, filled with POP-CORN and a teaspoon of oil. (do NOT test it before wrapping and mailing out)
