Oh yes. This is when it was "heated" and all the windows were closed, in the winter. No more heat, however feeble. And windows with hardware cloth (on 3 sides!).

It's all going to be beautiful. I hope you update us as you make changes.

That would be ideal...to keep rain/snow out too.windows will be opened from the top for ventilation rather from the bottom which would be drafty
Yah, y'all are crazy....but if the finish carpenter say so go...then Go!!When we shut down the heat and cracked the windows last winter, the room was cold, but sheltered and sunny. Good coop conditions!
Oh lardy I get that! I get the "Do we have to? Can't we just....it's just a chicken coop, not Fort Knox."I have some ideas about what the interior should look like, but Mr. Trumpeting has his own ideas and we will have to see. I have informed him of the need for HC over all the windows and no, opening them just a crack was not a viable option. Being hopeless in carpentry myself, this involves big arguments, I mean, detailed discussions, about chicken needs.
me and my dadOh lardy I get that! I get the "Do we have to? Can't we just....it's just a chicken coop, not Fort Knox."
I have to explain frequently that this needs to be stronger than fort knox. "WINDOWS? Chickens need windows?" "Yes dear, egg production you know." "PAINT?? INSIDE????" "Bugs, baby. Bugs."
And on and on it goes.![]()
