Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

Thats cute! I have to take pics of mine. If the comb size says anything, this may be a boy. But I will let the experts comment!

I was thinking that they were both boys but now one looks a little different than the other I'm not as sure... I'm hoping for one of each but we shall see! I call the Brahma X and Barnevelder Xs girls... Time will tell

Loving all the chick pics! They are all so cute. Congrats to all.
Waiting with excitement on my 2 hybrid eggs. They are due to hatch tomorrow. CCl x Buff Orp and CCL x RIR. The Orp egg was a rocking and chirping this am!

I picked up a cream Legbar cross last night and was really surprised at how pronounced the crest was. Cream Legbar is the only crested breed the breeder had so it has to be. All of the parents are purebred and the chicks are a mix of cream Legbar, BCM, RIR, Ameraucana. What do you think this little ones other half is? My guess is BCM. So much light on the head but it doesn't seem like a simple sexlink spot does it?

Also brought home this little black baby from the same mix. One half of it is obviously Ameraucana from its poofy little cheeks. The breeder said he has a black Ameraucana rooster.

Has anyone had one come out looking like my little crested chick? I've looked through lots of pics on BYC and the rest of the Internet and have not come across any CLB x chicks that look like this yet.

I have not seen CL Xs come out looking like that as of yet. Not to say it isn't, just Im not sure what cross could create that chick. It almost looks like polish cross or something of that nature instead of a CL X.

The black one with the head spot could easily be a CL X but again not sure what the other half could be.

Thanks. I thought it liked more Polish, too, but the breeder said he didn't have any Polish in his flock, just CLB, BCM, RIR and black Ameraucana. It will be very interesting to see what it grows up to look like.

I have two chicks hatch with really big crests or you can say a vault. One is a Legbar and the other Legbar hybrid. 2 out of 28 is not a big %age but that gene is lurking out there somewhere. I will post pics when I get a chance.

Does anyone have a picture of an olive egg produced by a Cream Legbar Roo over a Welsummer mix? Or a picture of the hen produced by that combination? I'm looking for a hen for my Cream Legbar roo that will produce olive eggs. Thanks

One of these days, I plan on doing a marans roo over my CCL hen. I thought that would give me a pretty good start on a dark olive egg.

If your Welsummer lays a really dark egg and comes from a flock that all lay dark eggs, then there is a very good chance you will get an Olive egg layer.

I did a Red Star cross whose egg was not even that dark brown but I got this egg (2nd from left).

Mom's egg is 2nd from left in the bottom row whereas a Welsummer egg is 2nd from right in the bottom row.
