Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

How about if you cross Cream Legbars and Bielefelders? Would you get auto sexing features and an olive egg? Something I am thinking about trying but I definitely know nothing about this.

I am ready to start incubating Cream Leg Bar over Black Copper Marans. My hope is to get olive eggs. Any idea what will become of this? Both the eggs and chickens?

They might look like this. Mom was a Blue copper marans and not sure the daddy was CCL but they look barred to me and no one else is barred that I can think of that would have been mature back then.

Genetics 101


Sex linked traits are different than other traits and are controlled according to the sex of the parent and if the trait is dominant or recessive. All other traits are normally contributed equally by both parents.

Mother only gives a sex linked trait ( only one gene) to the sons and does not give any sex linked trait (genes) to the daughters.

Father gives a sex linked trait (genes) to both the daughter and sons.

Sons inherit a sex linked gene or trait from the mother and the father. Sons have two genes for a sex linked trait- one from mom and one from dad.

Daughters only inherit one sex linked gene from the father and will express the same sex linked trait as the father; that is if he carries two of the same alleles ( genes). If the father carries a recessive allele and dominant allele, some daughters will express the recessive allele and others will express the dominant allele. Remember they only need one allele (gene) to express a trait.

Barring/no barring and silver/gold are sexed linked traits.

Will work if the Bielefelder are brown or wild type and not extended black barred.
