Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

I'm crossing some of my not-so-crested Cream Legbars with my French Black-Copper Marans rooster. I know that I should get auto-sexing Olive Eggers but I was wondering if I am going to have a problem picking the chicks (especially the girls) from my Black Australorps and B-C Marans chicks. Right now the only way I can tell the difference is feathers on the feet. I think feathered feet is dominant, right? Will the chicks look too close to my Marans? What do the entire chicks look like? Photos would be very helpful. Thanks!

Yes, they will look all alike. I can't tell my marans from the australorps from the olives. I have to mark them when they hatch to be able to tell them apart. This isn't fool proof though. I've had legbands disappear after a week and then I was at a loss again.

Well that's disappointing! I can tell my Australorps from my Marans because the Marans are French standard and have feathered legs. I'm using my non-crested birds so I can't look for the crest. They should have feathered feet and maybe...just maybe they will have a tiny crest. At any rate, I'll have to put my blue eggs on a seperate rack in the hatcher so at least at first I may be able to tell my Olive Eggers from the Marans that way. At least they won't look like Cream Legbars.

I have just hatched my first batch of ee x maran at Thanksgiving....my maran rooster is glossy red and black tail, if someone had pics of CL x MARAN birds or chicks I would love to see them too as I have no idea what they will look like and I just set some of those eggs yesterday for the 7th annual hatch.

Mom is Half Cream Legbar Half RIR? This is the dad of all the chicks Half Cream Legbar/ Half ? Any thoughts on gender? I'm pretty sure it's improbable to tell at this age but I figured I'd give it a go.

I don't know about the sex of the chicks or anything about autosexing chicks, but that rooster is gorgeous.
