Cream Legbars

so true.

It would be very interesting and fun to see what the results of pairing that male with the two females would be, especially if you could definitely keep track of your hatch. (ETA meaning knowing which chick came from which pullet) Some while back, JR line had some ambiguous autosexing - and I think perhaps that has been cleared up. With mature birds you know for certain what you will be getting and you can select from ones you would hatch strong autosexing.

You never know exactly what sets of genes the parent birds will pass to offspring, what is recessive and hidden etc. I wonder if the seller knows/can tell you how closely related they are.

There are a lot of things I like about the middle pullet... and it would be interesting to see both paired with that particular male. The right pullet is also very nice...just cannot tell as much about her from the pict.

Not all cleared up on the ambiguous autosexing, I have given away 2 hens I thought were cockerels this spring. It always seems to go that way. A girl never is a boy but the boys become girls. One became a great looking young lady, show quality, I think. BUT not breeding quality because of the autosex issue.

Here are my new babies. This girl is 2 weeks old now.

This were born this last Saturday. Two boys that are very different in coloring. I think the lighter one is so cute!

The same two boys and one girl. She's darker than both of them, but all are easy to tell apart.

More cute baby pics, complete with dandelions =) I'm happy to say I have an incubator hatch due this weekend, and two broody hens that should finish up before the end of the month.

I don't recall the breeding history of these two chicks. The pullet matches up with my double cream gals. The dark ring around the cockerel's neck (almost like a little vest) is unusual in my experience. I would guess he is going to have a little extra chestnut, and I am leaning towards gold not cream adult feathers.
What is your experience with this flock?

Henless grats on these.

I am amzed how calm yours are.

Here are some of my CLB babies from this morning, Can you pick out the CLB's?

They like to sit and watch me drink coffee.

Are they your first CLB babies?

I am going to agree that my boys have a lot of gold on them. I think they might be half cream half gold daddies but that might take some time to work out.

The dad is in this pic along with some of the potential mom's, although I was doing a group breeding this go round since I am not replacing my boys at this time. I found you get some happy surprises through group breedings. There are 2 cocks in this group. I'd say half to 2/3 of my hens are not cream. Group 1 shows more cream, but smaller crests. Their cocks have straighter combs. Group 2 has fantastic crests but almost no cream.group 1 has better earlobes but that is something that I need to work on.
The cock has a group 1 cream mother. His dad was not cream but had great type and the straightest comb and brightest earlobes. And he was reasonably trustworthy around the kids... I can't put up with mean roosters when I have little ones.

here are all from the last weekend batch. Which pullet is best? These 2 cockerels are probably both gold. One has a yellow spot and the other a cream spot but they both have the dark collar mentioned before
