Cream Legbars

I think i have one i just need a scale to prove it.
I recently bought a fish scale on amazon.com for $3.90 and free shipping. I wondered why it's taking three weeks in shipping -- till I checked and noticed it's coming from Hong Kong. If you don't want to wait that long, you can probably find one almost as cheap from an American distributor.

Anne (aiding and abetting the "how much does this chicken weigh" question)

p.s. I want a cookie, too. Just because.

Quote: Ahhh but nicalandia, there is no such thing as a gold crested legbar. Sorry but the gold legbar - of which there are probably not any - lays a white egg and doesn't have a crest. Although gold legbars do have autosexing in common with cream legbars. So if it has a crest as that one does, and if it carries the blue egg gene as that one most likely does, it isn't a gold legbar at all.

How would you describe the differences between the body type we want for this breed and a very nice type leghorn both male and female to the feel and to the eye only. Aside from color and crest?
I took a photo of a beautiful buff leghorn at the recent chicken show..if I can dig it up - we can look over those and compare with the body on Steen's rooster that I like so much...

ETA - no need now, I wrote that before I saw the diagram that GaryDean26 did -- so excellent - I think it should be added to the Club's handbook - good type goals for the people wishing to raise the breed.

Im right there with you. My roosters wattles are ok but his comb looks so sad right now. Pale almost shinking and tips curved over and he has frost bite. I sure hope spring comes soon and his comb will goes back to looking nice

I take it back his wattles look to have a teeny bit of frost bite too. I just took some pics of him and realized his comb is pretty bad with the frost bite.

What does everyone put on badly frostbite combs to prevent or fight infection. Neosporin maybe.
Have you heard of Vetericyn VF - it comes in several forms and one is a spray.....

I got the gel at Amazon - I think I won't be without it.... The reviews may say it all..

Here is my rooster with the frostbite comb he is just about 1 year old now and I think he is maturing nicely. I know his comb is horrid

Whoo hoo Chickin Pickin' Love your birds and love your rooster. Too bad about the frost bite. -- Somehow I wish we could dub the males who have to live in cold climates. (Like the games for which dubbing is a requirement - and although it seems awful - it would solve the frostbite problem right. Is it light reflected from the snow, or do you have the best salmon-breasted Cream Legbars there are?? or both? ---

When we go through the SOP sentence by sentence...I hope that you will have us look at your rooster - there are a huge number of good qualities there!
