Cream Legbars

Can you guys critique my up and coming breeders for me please? They're still young but I want to hear your opinions at this stage.

This is Shivers (Daughter named her). She has a bit more gold than I'd prefer and I like a bigger crest but she has a smaller, mostly straight comb that I desperately need to integrate. All my older hens have huge combs that twist and almost fall over. I'm hoping that pairing her with one of the above, lighter colored boys will help. She just started laying a week or 2 ago.

I do like your hen, although you are correct in stating she needs a bigger crest. However, you may be able to get decent cockerels that don't have floppy Combs if you find her the right guy. All of mine except Eli, from ralphie, are pretty much crele, owing to luck of the draw from AB line cream legbars. I have found some that are lighter, but compared to the "cream" of others, mine are practically glowing golden lol. I'd like to see your cockerels grow out a bit. Are they younger than your pullets?
Number two cockerel seems younger anyways... But I love the earlobes on one and three. So nice! Remember to keep a little Chestnut on the wings of your cockerels if possible, and aim for hackle and saddle feathers to match in color. I'd like to see those cockerels grow a bit larger before I'd make a decision, especially since number two looks younger.

Yes, number two is younger than the girls. I think he's a few weeks younger than girl #2. Boys 2 and 3 were actually accidental keepers. Both of them were injured as babies so I kept them to raise them and heal (2 had a broken leg, 3 was attacked by the broody turkey that is hoped would raise him). It just so happens that both are so light colored. I will post more pictures in a month or two to show how they grow. These chicks are all out of that emergency roo that I found locally when I lost my fantastic guy last year. I was really leary about using him since he had almost no crest but he's actualy brought a smaller comb to the girls and is throwing some nice genes :)

Sold to me as Cream Legbar, just hoping for a pretty blue egg from her. Do you think she is mixed? Also, can you guesstimate an age?

She looks good to me. I'd say she has a month or two at least before laying, she's maybe......
Guessing 3 months to 4 months old?
That's my guess.
But she looks purebred to me

Boy #1

GD26 - I love the full breast and back on this one. His tail is thinner than I like though.

boy #2

GD26 - I like the back on thsi one too and the tail looks better. He looks a lot younger than #1. His combs is smaller and more pale and his ear lobes done have any white on them yet. This one has better color than #1 but need to grow out some more to evaluate.

boy #3

GD26 - This one had the great breast and back of #1 as well and the better color of number two. He how ever didn't get the tail of #2. I think I would choose this one over #1 give #2 another 2 months to grow out and evaluate him against #3 again later on to choose the best one.

[GD26] - This one had great depth of body, and a good breast but I am not crazy about the back. It looks to have some humps to it but that may just be the stance since the tail is down. I don't like the crest. It is small and the dark color which I don't like. I also don't like the red on the front of the throat and I feel the comb is to large.

Girl #2

[GD26] Again this one looks too young to evaluate. Give her another two months and look at her again. In these photos her shape can't been seen at all. with her tail down and her hunched over. I don't like the spiky combs though. I prefer neet and tidy combs.

I would really like to breed these two, what are your thoughts? The eggs were given to me so I have no idea what my results would be. But possibly they are brother and sister. Is that ok to breed if they are?
