Are you sure? You want the good and the bad? I get in trouble on this things without checking first..

I have all my birds inside for the spa and resort treatment before the show the end of the month in Hutchinson. Mn. I think we have enough to make an official pre-qualifier!

OK.. here goes....

Overall color is not bad, would be better to have hackles and saddle feathers match better but not bad. Color wise I would us him...

Now, the back appears too short. the keel should be more filled out, but he is young and has time, I find on the Legbars that is one of the last areas to fill out on the cockerels.

The comb and wattles are large, which is good, the lop to the side is not good. He has a nice crest for a rooster. ...... (One of my problems with the proposed SOP. If the SOP allowed a smaller comb we would have more room for decent crests on males)....

The worse thing I see is the tail. Way too high of an angle, that is approaching squirrel tail angles. If the tail was down the back would appear longer too. Is he trying to get away from you? It almost looks that way which really affects the way he stands and looks.

The feet look good, I would like a brighter yellow, but that is most likely a camera thing and not real. Also the ear lobes are pretty red for a cockerel, I would not worry as much about them if he was over a year old.

Is he your best breeder? I have used worse, but I would not use him now in my flock. It all depends on where you are at, if you have hens with long backs and low tail angles he would be good, as his color would moderate the normal reddish the hens have. I really like his saddle feathers length and color....

His tail isn't normal that high, but he gets like this when he sees me get too close to him. It's usually a bit more down though. I think the picture doesn't show his leg coloring that great, and the area I have him in, the lighting doesn't help. I can try and get a better picture of his ear lobes and legs, and maybe his tail. Once he's relaxed around me a bit more, since he's in a new place.

That is why I qualified those answers, he looks like he is nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof.... When they are like that it is hard to get a good picture. My Iphone helps destroy the colors I see in pictures... Good luck on the next pictures.

Yup, he's usually pretty relaxed if I'm not close to the enclosure he's in for quarantine right now. Once he's out of the garage in a couple of weeks, I'll snap another picture of hime

@duluthralphie I snapped a better picture of him a bit more relaxed (as best as I could) and not all tensed up like the first picture. Don't know if this is a better shot of the actual angle of his tail.

She looks pretty good so far. I'm guessing that she isn't laying yet? I like her yellow legs. She has a tidy little crest, it could be bigger, but it is quite adequate. Good eye color, nice conformation. She seems a little dark color wise, hackles seem a bit well melanized.
Thanks she is not laying yet and I thought she is dark too. I have 4 in the brooder 4 weeks old, 1 cockerel 3 pullets with one pullet being hopeful. I also have another hen same age as this one 19 weeks that has a crooked tail and creol coloring. They are the sweetest I love CCL's. I joined the club to have access to info but so appreciate your time to give me feedback Bantambird thank you.
