Cream Legbars

My cream legbar is fiercely independent but docile. She free ranges alone all the time and cares not.

This describes our pullet well. She almost exists in her own world outside the pecking order. She isn't intimidated by larger hens but also doesn't show any interest in dominating hens lower in the order. She just does her own thing, quite happily.

Our baby legbars seem similar. They're not as docile as their Orpington and Marans brooder buddies but seem quite content.

... My marans can be bossier than my legbars.
I agree -- I had both Marans and Leghorn (similar temperament to Legbar) together and the Marans are very bossy but the smaller quicker Leghorn can really put a Marans in its place! (I'm speaking pecking order of hens -- I'm not zoned for roos).

My little cream legbar, half the size of the other chicks and with 2 crooked toes, makes sure she gets a top roost. She doesn't challenge them for the spot -- she just nestles up next to the big ones, even trying to get under their wings. I have seen her knock the biggest chick off his/her roost (not sure of gender yet) by doing this.

We were able to get a few more cream legbars. Just hatchery stock so we'll see. Here's a photo of the little roo. Curious to see how he turns out.

Here is the end of my legbar flock, and only half cream legbar at that! I re-homed my entire flock, but kept this cross fella. The mother was a full cream legbar hen, daddy was a splash bantam cochin!
He is going to make a fine Yard Master! I think he is rather cool looking.

She's a piece of work. We love the goofy crests too.

Becoming a big CL fan. There's a lot to like between those crests, the blue eggs, easy chick sexing, fun personalities etc.
Apart from when your CL doesn't lay blue, or even green tint.....but creamy pink tint ! 🙄
