Creating Experimental Black Crele Chickens (Different Genetics, new variety)

Pics
It was part of my experiment for determining how dark I want them to be. Also too see what breed would fit best for my experiment. That other Aussie cross is going to be part of my chicks that I'm planning to sell, not for my experiment unlike the last one.
Barred rocks are black under the barring, so australorps are unnecessary.
I don't have a picture of the OEGB at the moment, but I can do that tomorrow, he does have some gold leakage though, mainly on his shoulders.
Could you post a picture of the d'uccle as well?

Here's an example of what my OEGB looks like with an internet image for now.

why did he die?
My grandpa was stubborn, & didn't believe me that the chick was to young too go outside, & and didn't need a supplemental heat light. So, the chick died do to cold weather. His complaint was the chick started crowing at 4-5 weeks of age. His words "If it crows it goes outside". I told told him it was a death sentence for the little guy.

How cold did it get? My bantams are off heat at 4 weeks and they live.

Did the bird have shelter? With proper shelter and that much feathering the chick should have been able to survive it.
Yes, the chick had shelter, but it wasn't enough. The chick was able to survive high 50's, and low 50's, but not the 40's.
