We have been hit with hard frosts a few times a week here.

I guess we should have waited to put in all the flowers. My yard looks like the hamper exploded every morning. LOL Have a great day all.

Adorable cakes. Okie, you get a baby shower? That's great. I don't think I am getting one....DH says he thinks it seems tacky or something, because it is our second child. I am not sure why... granted we have a lot of stuff that we need already, but jeez, it's been 8 years since there was a baby around here.... wink

just stopping by. Need to eat and run errands on the far far side of town today....

love

It's not considered taboo anymore to have a baby shower for each baby. I thought the same thing at first...sbhould I have another baby shower? I asked my friend Amber, who is the etiquette queen, and she said there's nothing wrong with it, and gave me the history on how that perception changed ^_^ Although I don't remember it now lol

Yes! Have a baby shower! ESPECIALLY 8 years later!!

Not a big deal at all.

And think about it this way, you probably have acquired at least a couple of new friends, so they've never been to your baby shower anyway!

In my case, I lost touch with all of my high school friends until recently, and so at least half of the people that I will be inviting to this one have never been able to celebrate the birth of any of my children anyway! And now they get to!

That wasn't a determining factor, just icing on the cake

lovemychix I can't wait to see what your babyghan cake looks like!!! I'm glad that I could provide some inspiration!! I would like to give it a go as well, but I think I only have 3 or 4 tips

I'm looking into classes at Hobby Lobby or Micheals. If I can find one being offered at the time I can take it, I am soooo taking it!

Lovemychix has me excited about learning how to make our own cakes!!

I must not have noticed the creepy bear thing, I'll have to go back and look at that

Scoot your hats and bibs inspired me to get working on the afghan that SE did in purple and pink? a while back...I've completed two more squares!!!

That reminds me:

That peach colored yarn that I bought seems bigger than the other two colors....even though it is the same brand, same line, same everything...what should I do to compensate? Will it help to use a smaller hook? Or do I just need to let go of the idea of that color all together?

I am a total novice at trying to make the gauge accurate...I usually just stick to the book, and the needle it tells me to use!! Danger Will Robinson!!

HAHAHAHAHA!! I just typed in crochet chat into my tool bar and instead of letting my drop down menu pick up the link, I hit enter and it did the yahoo search...guess what? We are 6th on the search list for crochet chat results

anywho....what I wanted to say is: I don't know how I didn't notice that bear before!!

It's ominous looking!!

ok hookers i need a lil help here..... a dear friend of mine has been diagnosed with breast cancer....i would like to make here an afghan with the pink ribbon for awareness...anyone know of a pattern thats free or cheap??
thanks

Thanks gang! I think I like the idea of a welcoming party after the Princess Squirrel arrives. She will need a royal audience after all.

At least that way I can compromise with DH and he doesn't feel like we are having a "hey bring us stuff for the baby even though we have some stuff" party.

Right now I am up to my elbows planning Big Sister's "last birthday party as an only child" party. Hannah is having 2 bigger parties and since tomorrow is her actual birthday, we have to *do* something for that, so it's a busy busy week. And tomorrow I have a doc appt that will take most of the morning...I am going to be one tired mama...

I already feel exhausted thinking about it.

So, if you don't see me, I am buried in birthday planning and doings and will resurface after the weekend.

Great bibs and stuff, Scoot. I am still working on mine. Been too busy to get out the hooks. Will bring them along to the doctor tomorrow since I will definitely have time to kill. (3 hour glucose test tomorrow) Yippee! I am already starving and I have to fast from now until after the test.

No advice for you on the yarn Okie...I am still too much of a newbie myself.

lost my train of thought. Better get to bed early so I don't think about food...

see ya all after the weekend if not sooner.

It doesn't really matter to me if anyone brings me anything for the baby. I love celebrations, and am in it for the celebration aspect of it. I would feel the same way if it was someone else's situation. There's not really a whole lot that we need anyway I don't think. I'm excited! I get to make food and maybe the cake, and do frou frou stuff!!!

Oh Okie I wasn't trying to say you were tacky at all. My son is not yet 2 and if I was having another one soon I would still have a party. Every child should be celebrated. My sister and I were just talking bout the shower thing this weekend so it was on my mind.

What is frou frou stuff by the way?
