hey everyone

I haven't been on here in forever. We are sick right now with the flu. Don't know if it is h1n1 or not, b/c we went to an urgent care place and they don't test to see if it is h1n1. The only ones that aren't sick are one of the twins and the baby

Hey Okie! I was just thinking about you the other day while I was driving around delivering mail. Was hoping you were ok. Figured you were swamped with the new baby. I was when I had my baby and I didn't have 4 more like you do so I can't imagine how in the world you even have time to turn your puter on much less read and put posts on here.
Glad to hear from you and really sorry yall are sick.

Well the State Fair was fun, and cold yesterday!! The deep fried twinkie did not live up to my expectations, the twinkie was cold inside and the outside was just a barely sweetened tempura type batter, if the twinkie would have been melty and gooey it would have been really good. The chicken on a stick was excellent!! Yummy boneless skinless chicken thighs grilled in an awesome sauce on a wooden skewer..really really good, 6 bucks but worth it..the twinkie was 4 dollars!! The critters all seemed well taken care of, never did find the chickens though but dang there were about 200 hogs!!! Lots of cows and goats and the sanitizing hand washing stations were nice with all the door handles you have to touch to get in and out of those buildings. The canning section made me wish I had entered something, I thought, wow, some of this is beginner looking...and ya'll, the crochet awards went to some amatuerish looking stuff, shawls and small afghans, plain looking.. A bit of it was nice but most was beginner stuff. The quilts were nice too but you couldnt even see them, they were piled together on top of each other so all you could see was the binding and about an inch of the quilt. The painted gourds, egg gourd ornaments and birdhouse gourds were much nicer than last years..made me wish I had done some of them too and entered although that would have been steep competition as they were all relly good. I saw alot of jointed wooden animals, they were cute as could be. Not anything new and inspiring in the craft section though. Only a couple of pieces of jewelry and none of that was even inb the ball park with Haleth's work (a BYC jewelry maker)..it was a fun day, thousands and thousands of people and a MILLION strollers but fun all in all!

I just got back from our 4300 mile trip but had started my ss gifts before I left.(at least the supplies have been bought) Have one thing completed though. You're right when someone mentions "wish I knew more about the recipient" Had fun at a four hour machine quilting class yesterday. Met some really nice people.

You are a travelin girl Austin!! Glad you had fun. I might enter some things next year Okie. I have crocheted afghans folded up in the ottoman in my den that are nicer than what I saw yesterday, not meaning to brag but I think they didnt have much to pick from. I have afghans in plastic bags in my closet too, one in red velour has a really difficult stitch on the trim and would be pretty to enter. We'll see.

It's nothing special but I need to finish that table runner with that veriagated christmas cotton thread I started, it will make a nice gift. I have alot more to do on it, I have only worked on it during my lunch hours so I guess I need to bring it home and finish it.

I had a sweet halloween fabric panel that I put a back and some hanging tabs on today. I just never seem to have enough time!!! I envy you folks that dont have to work or are retired already

I would be sooooooo dang busy with crafts all the time

I've retired once and am working again, fortunately part time. I think you have less time when you have children at home and mine are grown and gone. News Flash!!!!Just got a call...my youngest grandson Owen just got his first two teeth. At 6 months he weighs 19lbs 6oz and is 27 inches long.
