It mighta been me, I keep telling you, those thermostat's confuse me! I like the ones where you set it for what you want it to be, and then either push a red button for hotter, or a blue button for colder. Dont make me look at numbers, then say up or down. ACK! lol Sorry, it is warm here though. lol

This is for you Skand...bragging about warm weather.

Like I said if this trooper thing doesn't work out we may be heading south. I'll sell everything I can that can be replaced. I'll load up the coop and the chickies and head on down. It will look like the beverly hillbillies all over again.

People that are mean to animals just make me sick. I hope they punish them!

Oh, they arrested like 70+ guys, A lot of drugs, pot and coke. Hundreds of thousands of dollars. You would think they would take pics and do all the documenting of how much money they seized, then use that money on taking care of the birds. But, then that would be too easy. Gotta keep that money, just in case they need to pull it out and count it for the jury during the trial right? lol OH and lets not mention, over half the guys they arrested, are illegal aliens. I didnt see any big green heads or shiny spaceships, so not sure on the 'alien' part, might just be immigrants. lol Illegal, non the less.

Did you find out if you can get the birds yet? I hope they dont just put them down.

Glad your uncle is out of the hospital.

Wow its sunny here but Brr its cold. It should warm up tomorrow though to 20-30. Yeah right warm up. I better get my seed order in soon. I need to build me a little outdoor hoop house to prolong our growing season so I can actually have something mature when harvested. But I do like Wisconsin. Right now I cant figure out why though.

Skand you are too funny.

Good luck on your rescue crusade, Sk, I hope it works out better than the last one.

Me, I hate the old thermostats that dials. I can never really tell what mine is set to unless it is definitely lined up with a number...70 is my favorite

Hey, hooker buddies, can anyone give me some advice and chicken baths? I would like to give my house chicken a bath. She's a black star (or black sex link) and standard size, of course. I know some of you have done chicken baths. I am pretty sure Cha Cha would prefer a dust bath, but I can't have a dust box inside right now. TIA

Chix, you are more then welcome down here, plenty of room! Although, if you get a better house with more land then me, I'll just have to trade ya!

Tiki, havent found out anything yet. Going to call again after lunchtime. The dispatcher, poor lady, I called right before 9 this morning. I think she only knew what to say, from what was on her desk. They are thinking they get a better community reaction if they say, we need things to put them in. Whereas, last seizure, they had the animal control unit cover the case. They were totally indaunted with people asking about taking the roosters only. As in, they wanted them for fighting.
I raise these game birds, I know how to care for them better then they do. lol
This is how our news teams are covering the story:
MARTIN COUNTY - Of the 105 animals confiscated, 80 of them are fighting roosters. That alone means they must be kept separate from the rest or they could kill each other, but the problems don't stop there.

Many of these roosters are currently being kept in boxes, some no more than eight inches wide.

To make matters worse, some are being kept up to four per box.

The roosters have very little room to move which makes it almost impossible to provide them food and water.

Many of them are injured from fights they have been in and need medical attention.

And if the temperature gets above 75 degrees, some of these birds could die.

Martin County Sheriff John Woodward says these conditions are inhumane.

"We had an expert come in that told us it's just a matter of time. In these small containers, they will die just, the conditions, they are standing in their own feces. It's horrible," Woodward, said.

I give lots of chickens bath.Use dish soap or baby shampoo. Just make sure you watch their head carefully so they dont swallow any water. And rinse twice. Then wrap iin a towel. I usually use a hair dryer on them for a while because it takes forever for them to dry, especially in this weather. You could set the dryer up in front of a cage. Just make sure it doesnt get her too hot.

I just put my silkies in the kitchen sink and washed them with a little bit of Dawn or kitchen soap. It really killed the stink. I made sure I rinsed them well and blow dried them good. They didn't seem to really mind it to much, but of course they are crazy silkies. Then I bleached my sink.

You just put them in the water and wash? I suppose just let them stand in the tub/sink of not very full warm water and scrub gently...

I wonder how well she would stand still....

Sk, I really hope you can get those birds... You are a great person to want them. good luck.

It's nice and warm in here today and Cha Cha grooms all day long, maybe I will see what I can do with her for a bath. I have some very mild herbal natural shampoo. She would smell so pretty...

I hope to get another one this spring. They are so cute.

Yeah I try to hold their head up when I am giving them a bath. They really like to huunker down and gulp water sometimes. Make sure you get under the wings dryed, that part seems to take forever.
