OK, 4 ply acrylic, got it. I agree, any pattern works because then we will have variety. As long as they are all 6" we should be fine. Now, any color or are we going to choose a theme? I mean we could go brights, pastels, earth tones, rich/deep tones? IDK, I like everything except pink and if you all choose pinks then I will just make an adorable blankee for one of my granddaughters.
Alright, y'all have convinced me - I'll join in the fun too!
My opinion on yarn, pattern and color: 4 ply acrylic is fine, any pattern so long as the finished size is 6 inches, but I think, if the goal is to join the squares into a pillow/afghan whatever, there should be some unity when it comes to color.
I always love to see your beautiful work you whip out so fast. Love them!!!! Did you get my pm? Want to play w/ us in the swap?
Lindsey~ "Alright, y'all have convinced me - I'll join in the fun too!" YAY!!!!

Crochet Granny Square SWAP:
I was thinking any color as long as it didn't hurt your eyes.
Whew..I've received some bizarre combos in the past from neon to christmas colors.
So if we do choose any color please try to choose pleasing colors.
I wanted to organize a swap to get my fingers moving again. I thought we could do it for fun. Revive the crochet chatting. I like to do granny's in between projects, b/c I get so restless working on the same project. I like to have several going to chase the boredom away.
Hook on a project, then switch and make a few squares and then back to the project or start a new one.
I made a few bright and cheery ones over the weekend. No biggie if we choose a theme that isn't those colors, b/c my DD wanted to claim them.
I want EVERYONE to be happy, so let me hear your voice IF you prefer a theme. I really don't care.
I just think it will be fun to do one. It's like Christmas when we receive our swaps. Whatever everyone else wants is fine w/ me.
Theme to be decided: Any color, Bright & Cheery (not neon), Pastel, Earth Tones, etc.... ?????? Let's hear what ya want! I'm ready to get hookin'.

Size: Finished product must be 6 inches. Pattern: Any granny square pattern Yarn: 4ply acrylic med worsted Color: ?????????????
That's what I use my granny's for, a project to give me a change of pace from something I don't want to get burned out on. Also I can take them with me whenever I'm going somewhere. My hubby is a Mason and whenever we have our once a month dinner I am there and he has a meeting after we eat so I sit with other wives and we chat and crochet, knit, whatever until the men are finished. I have this yoyo pattern near my computer and it is calling me. I guess I'll have to try a block and see how it will work up and if it will hold my interest. Another reason I like granny's though is because after you do one you don't need to use a pattern. I have several variations in my head so don't have to think to hard about one.
I have a granny flower garden quilt I am paper piecing and I get a little tired of the paper piecing so I set it down near my chair and pick up some crocheting. It really helps. I'm on the last row of flowers, four left to do then I can add white around and then do the sashings. I may have hand stitched the flowers but I will machine stitch the sashings and then hand quilt it this winter when I can hold it over my legs. Have a great day everyone. I'm looking forward to the swap.
Would the squares have to fall under the Granny square/variation classification, like these or would a square 6 inch motif, such as those in this book count? Or are they all the same thing?

Hi Linsey~ Sorry, but I had a million errands to run today and have been away from the computer. Yes, the finished product should be a 6 inch granny square (square shape) more like the example #1. It can be any pattern of Granny Square. There are so many free patterns out there. Here's a site I go to sometimes. www.crochetcabana.com
Now the second example book of motifs does have a small section of granny squares in it as well, but finished product should be 6 inch square. So none of the other motif shapes like triangle, hexagon, circle etc....just 6" Granny Squares (square shaped). I know it gets confusing. I actually bought that book last spring. The colorful cover intrigued me. I think baustin and now Sunny Dawn has it as well.
