I'm beginning new winter hats for each of the children, along with matching scarves...the hats will be similar to the ones I made last year...just larger.

I found with the children, the earflaps worked great!

She looks relaxed but she's actually holding stock still because she is afraid to disturb them.

When we asked her a question she wiggled her eyebrows for yes and frowned for no. It was so cute but she was so afraid of waking them up. She had to change her clothes and clean up afterward cause a couple of them pooped on her but she didn't care as long as they were comfortable.
ChicksterJo that little peep first kept sliding off but then wrapped itself in her hair to stay up where it was nice and warm. Who says chickens are dumb? Good luck with the move and the sale!
Ok enough gushing about grandkids.

Loving all the pics from everyone!

I would love to see a pic of the hats with ear flaps! Those sound so warm!

Bumblebee I think I have that pattern! That's so cute!

Is there an easy pattern for crocheting socks, my husband was watching flipping through the channels and some lady was crocheting socks and now he wants me to learn how so I can start crocheting socks

bumblebee~ Nice blanket! How in the heck do you make your transition of changing colors so smooth? When I make projects that have to change colors my edges can be lumpy sometimes.

In the past I made sure I edged it well to hide it.

Chickster~ Good luck selling your house. I don't know the situation, but so sorry you have to sell your flock.

Glad you know the people that will be taking them. I know that will make it easier. I had to sell about 6 roos that resulted from an accidental hatch and it broke my heart not knowing what would happen to them.

Parsonwife~ Please post a pic of your kid's hats when you get a chance. Is it hard making the ones with ear flaps? I think they are so cute and you are right that they keep the kids warm. I've only mastered the simple head hugger beanie and not ventured to try flaps yet.

Nice granny square!!!! I have a book w/ a pattern to crochet socks, but haven't tried them yet. I have no idea how hard they are, but I'll look for my book.

Earflaps are easy, don't worry, you can even add earflaps onto the pattern you have learned! I will post last year pics of the hats, and post new pics when I get this years finished.
When the children are playing, their ears freeze, they don't like the ear muffs...so for us, the flaps work great!

*Here's my daughters from last year, (I hadn't added leaves or tacked the flowers down, but they looked really good...easy too!

What cute hats! I love ear flap hats. I learned how to make them when I was going to college in Chicago. My ears were always freezing and I didn't want to buy big ear muffs. My dorm was a couple blocks away from Lake Michigan, which meant lots of snow, and when I went inland it was always much colder! My ear flap hats, however, were comfy and cozy.

Thanks, Smitty's Farm. Tonight is their last night here, and tomorrow around noon they'll be going. Brings tears to my eyes but I can rebuild my flock, bigger than ever, another time. That gives me comfort.

Love the hats! I'm sure I have a pattern for those somewhere around here. I got it off of the Lyon Brand website. They have a bunch of free patterns on there.
