I'm on ravelry now! So many patterns! There are so many I want to try. I love the charts. I can see how they could be so easy once you learn to follow them. I have to get this blanket done so I can start something else.

If you would be willing to i would love to have the pattern for this blanket its my sons favorite movie and he would love that blanket its beautiful. (and if i ever made anyone else one i would give you full credit if that was an issue} let me know.

I usually get back into crocheting in the fall, too. My mom's 60th birthday is coming up soon so I thought it would be cool to find a pattern from the year she was born. I found this fun pinwheel doily. I know doilies aren't cool, but I am making it for sentimental reasons and I thought this pattern actually looked quite modern for a doily.

That's very nice. Framed against the red or another dark color would make a nice piece. I've seen them on velvet in a nice square frame. Do you have this pattern?

I have a Wall Pocket my grandmother used to make that I WILL make. I did see some glass cigar viles in the junk store. She used them for the pocket part. She used sugar water to stiffen them up. I have one hanging here so I'd have to copy it as best I can.

Doilies may not be popular but they protected many dressers and livingroom furniture. My DD and DW make fun of me because I'm using dish towels to protect the arms of the new furniture.

Grease from hair and body oil would stain the arms and backs of furniture. It still does but we just buy new stuff now. I hate this new fabric. Too I would think Leather gets stained too.

Seems to me we're just to lazy to wash them. House wives had a lot of doilies so they could switch them out. Starching them protected them from holding onto spills.

Thanks so much for checking. The last board I had I could not code in the image box at the top there. Now I am very happy.

All of my doilies pure crochet except the swan doily. I do not applique flowers on top....... They are crocheted in ...not on top of. I am not fond of appliqued doilies.

Applique ok with some things but in my opinion, not on doilies. It's something a beginner would do not a professional. It's kind of like comparing a fuseable applique quilt to hand stitched quilt. There's just no skill required in those examples. That being said I have made a couple of doilies by making the doily then putting crocheted flowers on top and then promptly threw them in the garbage.

Anyway thanks ladies for looking at my forum. Hopefully I will see some new members soon. It's really a bad time for me to be starting up a forum this time of year. I have a couple of quilts waiting to be quilted. It's just a side business. Gives me a little spending money for some of my useless hobbies.
