Crochet "Chat"

Here's a pattern for you. Not sure if it's a turkey or chicken. It's from a Russian site

Those are awesome, but they would have to be under glass that is a serious dusting nightmare.

I dunno I never have had any problems with my "white" swan doily. Course....... I do clean quite often. I don't have a lot of stuff around to make dust. Just the wood stove and a couple of plants. We don't smoke so that saves it a lot of grief. I have not washed my swan doily and it looks just as good today as it did 5 years ago. I guess it just depends on what you have that makes dust. I do use my blow dryer on it once a week to dust it. Outside of course. If a person was that worried they could wash it. Doesn't take much to learn that. HAND Wash in cool water with liquid tide. Towel/air dry. Starch her up again and it's as good a new. A no brainer.

Something young people who aren't wise to clutter would buy. Please understand they are very nice but some of us old folks have no more room to put trinkets.

You can gauge how old the inhabitants of a house are by what's what, I think. We're at the family picture stage. Pictures of grandkids abound. Only cuz we might forget what they look like.

In my younger days, I would have made them for sure. Perhaps for the grandkids to play with. They are cute though.

My grandmother used to stiffen everything with sugar water. She never had ants either. We think we're so smart with all our cleaning and stuff, yet we worry about ants. Perhaps we're not as clean as we think we are. She didn't have a Swiffer either. But then I'm older now so my rememberer may not be what it once was.

You don't need "dust makers" in Oklahoma, we grow it out of thin air.

My Grandmother had a lot of junk..to me anyway. Mom had about half of what Grammie had. I don't put much of anything up. I really don't like to clean. It's great for someone with lots of family. I have none. Just hubby and I. I have a couple of doilies and some german china on a buffet. Hubby puts up pictures that i do dust...grumble grumble.. I would not bother if I was here by myself. He also has plants that i DON'T take care of. Mostly christmas cactus plants.I think around 10 or so plus boo bush and some other weird looking fellows(plants). Now my friend is a different story. She has cow stuff and lots of blue stuff. Her favorite things. It looks nice the way she has it scattered about.. She does a great job with decorating. I would go mad with all that stuff. Our barn is full of stuff. Ha ha I don't go out there much. I think it's hell. I am sure it is. It's hot in there in the summer and freezing in the winter. No lights. Hubby is so tight he squeaks. I have to run a extension cord for lights.

Kassaundra: I live in Maine and it's not real dusty here so maybe it does really depend on where your at. We get pollen in the spring This week there's a bunch of that ugly pollen on the pond. Weird right.. Looks like vomit soup.

Gross. Instead of dust we get mold. It's real humid in the summer here. I use lots of bleach on the walls and floors. Next year I might get a dehumidifier.

I remember how it was back in the day. Gosh my Mother used a wringer washing machine with the ringer on the top. Hellish thing. We had an outhouse until I was 5. Today life is real good. I love all the new stuff. The computer being my favorite. Ok I am done now I had not intended to write a book here.

My writing is not so good so please take it with a grain of salt or something like that. Don't really remember the old saying.

I have to add something. I used sugar water starch but it was hard to wash. I ended up boiling my doily to get the sugar out. I use stiffy stiffener. Seems to wash up good. Gets real hard. I don't really like the name though. Sounds a little trashy. I think they could have come up with a better name.
