Crochet "Chat"

Just dropped by to say hello, all! Been spending entire days working on moving our site to a new server/host. Day before yesterday was a 12 hour day getting most of the store items moved over. Finally, we have it up and running, especially our web store. It is an entirely new look and now, we include shipping on everything to make it easier for our customers (that's the BRC web store only for now, Etsy is still the same). Still needs a little tweaking and a few departments like the guestbook and blog are not back up just yet. Will be looking into some options for ready made gift baskets containing our crocheted wash cloths, face scrubbies and LH's bath products.

Anyway, I was doing some of these slightly slouchy hats since Ladyhawk requested I do one for her-she does some things, I do others and hats are more my thing than hers. They use the puff stitch.

Been working on this small lapghan/babyghan/whatever for awhile now. I put it away and then take it back out and do some more rows. I'm using the Red Heart With Love on it.

It's nice to see you on here. Love your afghan. Your website is very nice. Love the design. Because I am not as smart as I should be....what is brain tan items? I have never heard that term. Is it a southern expression or a local expression or am I just not it the loop? What I have in my mind is probably not what your talking about. Ok I will tell you what I am thinking it is. I think it's like tanning cow hides but your tanning brains....and if so why? Just can't wrap my my brain around it. LOL sounds like I am crazy or something but that is way is on the site "brain tan items". There is nothing to see on the page. Anyway I am glad to see your back posting. I really miss your posts and lovely work.

Well, um, no, not quite. You were close. It's using the brains of the deer to tan the hide of the deer. We don't have any hides up on the page right now. That is Ladyhawk and Bill's department. Hopefully, we'll soon have some beadwork and brain tan things up. We do have some of Bill's blacksmith work and leatherwork in the Forged Items section, but the items that start with L belong to Ladyhawk and the ones that start with S belong to Bill (for Smith) and mine start with B. The ones belonging to her side of the equation are still in need of some of the photos. And Bill sells a lot of hides on Ebay so most of those are tied up there at the moment. I'd like something in each category.

Thank you so much for checking out the site! I hope it will be upbeat and professional-looking by the time we're all done with it. As soon as it's completely up in all aspects, I hope to get back to a quilt project I left off with at the beginning of summer and more crochet as well.

Thank you for the info. It's very interesting. Your site looks professional and nicely done. Easy to navigate too. Excellent. Because you have some very unique items, if you don't already have them on pinterest you might consider doing so. It's one of the best networking sites there is. It's free to open an account and post pictures with links to your products. I highly recommend it. Getting customers is one of the hardest things to do. Also you might join some groups on facebook to post some of your links. Just a suggestion. I get about 100 unique hits a day from pinterest alone. Good luck with your site and really it's very nice.

Thank you for the suggestion and the compliment. We do have a BRC FB page, but the link isn't up on the site yet. Another detail to take care of. Will pass it on to Ladyhawk!

I might be ordering soon then. I need a bator first though. I love them!

I'm crocheting a granny square baby blanket for my dog. I'm using a basic pattern as she'll probably play with it more than use it for warmth...

I really like this hat and would like to do it for my grandson. How do i get to the pattern. new at doing this online stuff

Which hat are you talking about? The one I posted pics of? If so, you can find the pattern here:
http://www.iheartstitching.com/free-slightly-slouchy-crochet-hat-pattern/

This nice young woman, Melanie Ham, has a youtube channel (iheartstitching) a facebook page and a blog. The brown one is her pattern. The caramel beige one I did using her basic pattern then I added a different brim style of my own to see how it would work out, which is a row of double crochets, then FPDC, BPDC, alternating, then another row of the same. (FPDC=front post double crochet).

I did make one from Red Heart Soft in Dark Leaf for our shop. It's B165 at the bottom of this page: http://blueroocreations.com/hats-caps--beanies.html

Here is a photo of it. It's such an easy pattern, though the pattern as written seems to run a bit on the smaller side. I did a couple more rounds before the puff stitch rounds on this one to make it more of a medium size. And I added my own FPDC/BPDC rounds for a more distinct brim. It's a very fast pattern to make, super nice, can be slouchier if you make the body of the hat larger and then, do more reduction rounds to bring in the brim size.
