Crochet "Chat"

Love the shrug.

I don't know if this will work for you, but my husband gets carpal tunnel pain. I have him to take a vit B 100 or 150, at night when he hasn't had any caffine. A lot of times (but not always) the carpal tunnel pain can be associated w/ low vit B in the body, and caffine hinders vit B in the body, most people who drink soda are deficient.

I didn't know that, thanks for the info, Kass. I have caffeine in my 2 cups of morning coffee, but I limit myself to one diet cola per day and it's caffeine free and sodium free (Diet Rite). The rest of the time, I drink our gloriously clean and clear well water, with herbal tea occasionally. I do take a multi vitamin daily. Some days, it doesn't bother me and other days, I can get tingly fingers almost immediately upon picking up a project, either crochet or quilt.

I'm excited to learn more. I started just experimenting and found that there are a lot of holes you can use to change the stitch. I made about 4 dishcloths just trying new things.

On a side note, I finished my first shrug tonight. I had never heard of a shrug until I stumbled upon it on a favorite crochet blog of mine. I found a free pattern from lions brand yarn using their soft homespun yarn and a size n hook. I absolutely love this piece and highly recommend it as a quick weekend project. What do you all think?

I like this shrug and have wanted to make one for myself for some time. Did you make the Lion Brand Simple Shrug pattern?

I donated the cat cave and three other beds to the Humane Society this morning and the worker there asked if I wanted some yarn (um, well, I dunno, YES!). Her mother is in a nursing home and crochets hats and other accessories for the nurses and sells them for $5 each and she gave her daughter this box of yarn to donate to the HS thrift store. Well, it seems they really don't want it so I said I'd take it and make them some more beds out of it. Win, win, right?

Here is my unexpected haul. The white stuff with the balls on it, have any of you used that? And for what? Guess I could make the top row of a cat bed with it so they'd have little balls to bat about.

Here is the cat cave and a couple other beds I donated. Didn't photograph the last one, but it's made the same as the one with the FPDC/BPDC sides.

And a cowl I made for myself. The print is the Red Heart With Love Fruit Punch, which I wasn't too sure about (sale at WalMart for $1.97!), but with solid colors drawn from it in blocks, I think it works okay.

OH!!! HOW did you make the cat cave???????

Here is the link to the pattern I used. It calls for that tshirt yarn, the fettucini or zpaghetti, which is why mine doesn't stand up fully (I used 3 skeins together). http://www.eilentein.com/2012/05/pesa.html Scroll down for English instructions.

I crocheted around a hoop, then crocheted it into place to make the opening stay open.

Score on the stash! Never say no to free yarn! I found a pom-pom yarn on Ravelry called Herrschner's Pom-Pom Parade and people used it for blankets and scarves, although I like your cat cave entrance idea. Not sure if this link will work, but otherwise go check it out on Ravelry if you can!

Sweet haul of yarn! There will be lots of happy cats when you are done!
