Crochet "Chat"

They do hold thier shape, I used jewels on these ones only because I have a bunch from a different project, I used sequins on some of the others. For the bows I used hot glue and the jewels/sequins I found that tacky glue works better, not as much ooze out and you can use a toothpick to get right amount of tacky glue on sequins/jewels without ooze out

hi Lori,
I am full of questions.  yesterday on my lunch break I made a wreath with regular yarn.  it was all floppy and ruffly. I was so bummed I almost took it apart.  I am so thankful you posted pictures.  I came and took a look and went da....I need to shape it into a spiral.  much better.  yours look nice and round. mine not so much.  how do you join these? I think I am doing something wrong.

after work I bought  yarn to make furry wreaths. I have never worked with this type of yarn before.  I ran it with a regular ply strand of yarn.  the results were stiff and super hard to work with.  all the ends of the fur yarn stick in and it is hard to see the chain.  is there some seceret to using this type of yarn?  your wreaths look so pretty.  the finished swatch samples in the store look great.  what am I doing wrong?

With the regular yarn make sure you are crocheting tight/tight tension, if you tend to crochet loose try a smaller hook to get tighter tension. The fur type yarns are hard to work with for any crocheter, the trick with this stuff is to get used to making regular yarn wreaths then you can do the fur ones by feel mostly or you can use a flash light to shine behind your work on the chains to see the chains and only do 3 DC with the fur ones. To join them I just form them in the circle and see where it looks nicest and jam the yarn ends into each of the other end then tie them together

Thanks, MNFeralKitty, for that awesome pattern :) I'm making a red and white (ran out of green :p) wreath. I tried a fuzzy one, but I kept missing stitches and instead of an 'o' it looked like '0' LOL

This is how you wear it

I don't have a pattern or link but i can tell you sort of how to make it My Grandma made one for me when i was a little girl and after i learned how to crochet i figured out how to make it by looking at the one she gave me.

Basically you chain how ever many stitches long you want the spiral to be then add three more stitches then 3dc in the 4th chain stitch and 4dc in all the rest of the chain till you come to the end (you have to kind of twist it as you go) then in the last chain do the 4dc plus a single stitch. Then you chain for how long you want the middle to be mine was about 100 chain stitches long in the middle then you chain the same no. of stitches that you did for the first spiral and repeat. I hope that i clear i'm not good at giving instructions if you have questions i can try to answer them.
thank you so much. I did a google search and found a pattern. pretty much what you just described. I just made a couple. the biggest problem I had was convincing the cat that it was not a toy for her. she kept batting it while I was making the second sprial.

never thought of using a flashlight. bet that helps. glad to hear I am not the only one who has a hard time with fur yarn. thankyou for the tips.

I just finished what I'm calling a fusion afghan, it is a crocheted blanket quilted to a pieced fabric backing. The crocheted side came from a recent granny square swap on BYC.

Crocheted side

Quilted side, on my next one I am going to pay more attention to placement of the squares on this side of the blanket too.
