Crochet "Chat"

lol,

this is one i am working on but it is not going to good
I like your kitty art. Very nice. The best way to get real good at doily making is to use a size 14 hook and southmaid crochet cotton #10. I can tell you if you get through one medium sized doily with it you can do just about anything. In my opinion southmaid is the worst crochet cotton made. The size 14 hook will hurt a little. It's all about tension in crochet. If you crochet with yarn you will tend to have loose tension. Doilies need a tighter tension. I always use a size 11 hook and aunt lydias cause it's what I can afford. I know what I told you above is true because I made a doily that way and had thread tension issues. After I finished the doily it ended the problem. I was good to go after that. It took me a couple of months to make the doily but I did it. Sore hands and all. That was many years ago. 40 or so years ago. It's just a suggestion.

I have been working on this project for a few weeks now. I am trying to design something. I am not sure where to go next with it.

I think the daisies stand for themselves, this is a very nice piece I would be cautious about "adding" stuff. Firm believer in most cases less is more.

Thanks everyone. Maybe I will keep it small but it does need something. I will figure it out sooner or later. It's 8 inches in diameter. It's very small. Small hook. Hurting fingers. LOL

thanks it is a die cut from a cricut machine.

this is how the doily is supposed to look i am basically self taught and not use to using pattern from books but i love the pineapples and tried this one. i used a no 10 hook and i have not idea what the thread is because it was given to me along time a go by ma great aunt. usually when i crochet with yarn it is too tight so i don't usually have a problem with that i was thinking that that was the problem with this one that the tension was to tight.

i like your daisy they are pretty.

This doily is blocked, yours will look closer when it is blocked. I think your thread is bigger then this thread and your crochet stitches look looser. Yours is at that akward stage right now, I think you will see it will get more like the picture w/ a little size (weight pulling the center a little more) and blocking.

I read somewhere a bout doilies being blocked but i don't know what it is or how to do it. Could you explain it to me because i would be thrilled if it came out looking like it is suppose to.
