Crochet "Chat"

yes. I did an afgan before our house fire at the beginning of the year and it had to be cleaned by the restoration co, in spite of being in plastic in my bedroom closet. Amazing, where smoke can go, really. It isn't as soft now, so I really ought to wash it with fabric softener to renew the softness it originally had. Here it is.

I finished a throw for our livingroom couch recently as well, not great photos of it, sorry. It starts with cream color, graduates to beige, then different shades of green.

They are truly beautiful. Fire is so destructive. I hope you can get it back to the original softness. It looks great.

Had to drop in to share... Scored $100 worth of yarn today for under $40! love it when things get forgotten on the top shelf, makes me glad to be tall

bad picture from my scratched up phone. 10 balls of Bernat Little Tickles, SO SOFT!!! Will make crazy warn & cuddly scarves for the food bank this year!

we had a house fire about 16 years ago and I can Still smell the smoke in the upstairs bathroom. It's a very old house so once the fire got through the wall it blew through every wall upstairs eating up the old "insulation"(back then they used paper and whatever they had on hand!).

The blanket is gorgeous, I hope you can get it nice and soft again.

Thank you both. Good score there, Bleenie!

My house was mostly gutted in the renovation, so didn't have any insulation left except in the back bedroom walls. All attic insulation was removed and all wallboard in the main part of the house, some of the ceiling in both bedrooms as well. It was down to the wall studs so not much left to smell of smoke, thankfully. I never want to smell that again!

Finished this for a friend who's due later this month. they dont know the sex but i thought the bright blue could go either way. the real fuzzy yarn is the stuff i scored a few days ago. She loved it so much she was rubbing it on her face and then her hubby's lol. also gave them some homemade burp cloths & wash cloths and a little newborn size cow hat which both of them adored.

Very sweet! I was in the basement the other day looking for something, opened a box and found several baby afghans that people had given me for my two sons (who are in their mid 30's now). They are like brand new. I'll never have grandchildren, so guess they'll just stay in a box for 30 more years unless someone somewhere I know has a baby. I wish I'd known the love that goes into making those way back then. Now, I have that perspective, especially since I can crochet.

I remembered my mother and sister gifted me with a ripple afghan many years ago. I recently asked my 92 yr old dad if he knew where mom's crochet hooks are-she died at the end of 1999. He said he found one in the basement, a miracle really, if you could see the history stored in there, and he's saving it to give to me when I see him. He lives about three hours south of me and I've had car issues so not sure when that will be; maybe when the weather is cooler, since my A/C no longer works in the car or the truck.

Thanks to Kass, my first attempt at afghan crochet. Was trying to make a ribbon square for the swap but it's pretty wonky!

I'm convinced it would look WAY better if i had a chart and knew what i was doing, lol. but i got a wild hair this afternoon and decided to try it with what little i have seen online about it... and a rigged up afghan hook.

That is awesome!!!!! Yes a chart would help a lot, but you can whip up a chart or find one for fillet crochet online, now that you know how to do the stitch.

yeah it was pretty easy, when i started it all i could remember was that im not supposed to finish the stitch, just leave it on and then i was hoping i got it right on the return row, lol. Will be a lot easier with a longer hook too, im sure.
