Crochet "Chat"

How many hdc are you making in the first row and which size are you making? That would be helpful to "map out" these directions based on the fact that you should end up with 57 (61, 63, 67, 67) hdc at the end of the first step after Row 1.

My interpretation is:

Row 2: 2 hdc in first stitch and 2 hdc in last stitch (increase row)
Row 3: 1 hdc in each stitch
Row 4: 2 hdc in first stitch and 2 hdc in last stitch
Row 5: 1 hdc in each stitch
Repeat pattern until you have done an increase row 7 (11, 13, 18, 18) times AFTER Row 2.

Then reduce your "increase row" frequency to every FOURTH row (instead of every other row) 6 (4, 3, 0, 0) times.

This pattern is confusing. There should a degree in crochet pattern interpretation!
Thanks... that is kinda what I was thinking too. I know, it is written so strangely! But I guess we are all spoiled because a lot of the patterns we use nowadays are off of blogs and such that have pictures and very detailed instructions to make it easier... But not this pattern! We're going old school!

The instructions before row 1 were for the foundation chain is all...

Old school on a sweater is brave! Dishcloth, sure. Doily, maybe. But sweater? You are ALL IN!

I have a lot of different odd things to eat. Fish eyes, raw clams,<- (not that good) rocky mountain oysters, ox tail stew, squid, octopus, ground hog, cow tongue, horse meat, deer meat, bear meat, moose meat, squirrel, beaver, I really don't think I could get past the thought of mouse soup.Mice are nasty little critters. I would try just about anything. I may or may not have had dog and cat meat. Never know at some of those asian restaurants. I would not do so knowingly. I have pets and do not consider them food except the chickens. Never had the pigs feet. I just hate pork. I might eat a mouse if I was starved. No worry there!!

My husband is worse than I am. He will eat anything. He pick wild mushrooms. I wait to try them after I know he is ok.

Well now, there is also a book Stone Soup too. Both Mouse and Stone are very good.

Now in the movie Never Cry Wolf, Tyler Smith makes a "mouse stew". It's a great movie worth the time to watch. It's where I got my idea of "marking" my territory against predators.

Yes but who said do one thing each day that scares you? or something like that.
OMG just looking in the mirror in the morning scares me. I have that covered!! I have heard of stone soup somewhere. Maybe on one of those fantasy movies. Never mouse soup. ewww I am thinking mouse soup has a different meaning than what I think.

I am happy with the look. Two more then I can put in the middle and the outer edge. I leave the threads until very last. I usually have to take my work out when designing. I was thinking on the very edge I might put some acorns on it. I don't think they would be very hard to make. I have a few things rattling around my brain.

Now, now don't be so hard on yourself. Imagine what we'd see if we could see "behind" the reflection?

The leaves look very nice. I do wish you'd share the pattern. I think they would look nice stitched to a dress or skirt. DW makes dresses and cloths for the grandkids and they'd look nice appliqued on some. Or on a sweater.

Hurry up share the pattern before I forget my ideas.

Isn't there a 70's song about a magic soup stone????

Nope I had no clue about a song but I do remember a rock in a pot. Geez it was on something I watched. I watch a lot of period pieces. History stuff. I am sure it's fiction though. Maybe it was a witch thing. I dunno. It was a very long time ago. Can't seem to rattle the marbles around enough to remember.
