Crochet "Chat"

That is really very pretty. Are you going to make knit or crochet booties. If knitted I know where there's a nice pattern. Kind of looks like the shorts there. I made the knit ones and they are quite easy.

that's the link to them in case your interested.

Thanks! For whatever reason, I cannot knit. I've tried several times and have had so many people try to teach me. No matter what I do, the stitches don't turn out right and get tighter and tighter. So, I'll be crocheting them ;)

I can't knit either, have tried to learn several times, but nope. I can do Tunisian crochet though, that is sorta like knitting

I think I learned to knit at 5 years old. I did not learn to crochet until I was 17 or so. Saw my Mother making a doily and just fell in love with it. My Mother was extremely talented and super smart. You know the kind...can answer every question on jeopardy and do the entire nytimes crossword puzzle. I so admired her. Sadly I am like my Father. Sighs....I don't really like to knit. Takes too long. I get frustrated when I drop a st and have to go and fix it. Crochet is pretty simple for me. I can take out something in the beginning of a project and repair it..with knitting no way. Have to frog it.

Those links helped explain what they were talking about.  So what patterns did you choose for steps 1 and 2?  Are you making the scarf for yourself or someone else?

I chose the arches stitch for clue 1 and the flower square for clue 2. It will be fun to see how this hodge podge scarf turns out. Not sure who it's for yet.

I don't knit either. Could never get the hang of holding two needles instead of one hook. I've made knit patterns with the Knook though!

Think I am sticking with two needles. That looks complicated. Purl does. Hmm knitting machine might be easier. I would cast on/off sts with that technique. It looks much neater.

I love Tunisian or (afghan) crochet, once you get the hang of it, it is really easy and you can make pictures and textures you can't make any other way. But it is mostly for yarn not thread, at least I've never seen it done in thread.
