Crochet "Chat"

I don't know that I've been involved in a entire afghan crochet thing and I'm sure I would be. Lord have mercy I've got boxes of squares waiting to be done up.

My 12" I'll use for our church afghan thing. Everyone makes a 12" square, crocheted or knitted and then someone sews them all together for a person in the church who is sick. I'll post a pic of DW's .

My GD loves the different squares.

She like to lay it out and hop from squares to square. It's made from different yarns and patterns. Some knit some crochet. In the beginning the woman who started it had us all buy the same type yarn, which was nice. Some of the ladies, (I'm the only guy) whined it was too expensive and "I can't afford that" . Which is a crock, IMO. They only had to do one square for heavens sake!

Anyhow Sister Trudy passed away and I guess now they take what they can get. The point is to pray for the person who was to receive the blanket. Still it's a nice thing to do.

I'm not sure what the point in me saying all this is.

@acemario - I do not have a favorite hook, per se, but if you don't mind I will expand the question to talk about my favorite gear!

I love my hook case! It has a zipper all the way around and opens up like a book and all of the hooks are neatly lined up in their little slots according to size. That way when I want to start a new project I don't have to go digging around for the right hook (although I have many extra hooks that don't fit in the case that are stuck in tote bags with various WIPs).

I also have a pencil case that I bought many years ago that looks like a Converse All-Star Chuck Taylor shoe (which I loved to wear in middle/high school). I keep all of my little tools in that case: scissors, stitch markers, needles for working in yarn ends, a pen, my current working hook, etc. My case is blue. Whenever I go to work on a project, I inevitably end up asking everyone in the house "Have you seen my shoe? I left my hook in my shoe and I need it for this project." Everybody knows exactly which "shoe" I am talking about.

I learned on a J. That was my favorite until I discovered crocheting with thread! I've been pretty happy with a 7 lately. I'd love to get one of those hook pouches. But I have a shoe box I keep most of my stuff in and a tote bag for the box and any other stuff I need. Usually a notebook. I taped over all but one hole in the shoe box. I use the other one to thread my yarn/thread through so that the box holds the ball and it doesn't roll away or attract the cat.

Love the ingenuity! Endless uses for old shoeboxes.
