Crochet "Chat"

Yall should see what Jim did today! He's trying to say it's my fault. I say, I was trying to sell the chicks, not accumulate more adult birds!!! But hey, I got rid of some of the chicks, some of the tweenish sized ones, and a few quail.. in return, 27 silkies!!!
Some white, some black, one half red, half white, a couple are greyish, and one is top half white, bottom half grey. lol

WOW Thank you all so much for the advice!! You all have such great advice!! Not that I'm surprised b/c you all are such a great group of people, but what everyone said really helped and hit home in a clarifying way! Thank you!!! And thank you for your prayers!!!

Good morning hookers!!!!!!! Start working on those spring shapes...well, at least thinking about what yarns you'll use, lol!! I think I have 6 more rows on DD's loud afghan, yeah!!!! Soooooo tired of it! DS said it looks a bit Spanish with those loud colors, I'll take a picture when I finish it and show you, the pattern is nice but the colors..wow, too loud for me and matches nothing she has, that is really what surpruises me about her wanting it!! kids....

oh! I almost forgot! I bought some of that "furry" Lion Brand Fun Fur yarn yesterday and I noticed that the main thread/yarn on it is tiny...I thought it would be about the size of normal crochet yarn, but it's not.

So this is something that I have no idea how to do, and I know some of you seem to be pretty good at it.

What kinds of adjustments do I need to make when not using the suggested yarn for the pattern, and using this kind of yarn instead, and what size hooks do I need?

I am wanting to make the egg shaped chick in this yarn, and right now I'm using the Sugar and Cream cotton yarn, and a size G hook. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what adjustments I need to make to use this new stuff?

edited for clarity..I hope

okie, I think when Risu was playing with her fun fur, someone told her to use a reg yarn to go with the furry stuff, to make it a little easier to use, and make it a lil fatter.

Hey yall.. we got 27 6month old silkies last night. Well, here's the deal. The guy that traded us for them, apparently, wasnt too keen on making sure they were fed enough. So now, I have one in my living room, without the energy it takes to eat. They all feel like the feathers and bones are the only things these guys and gals are made of. HOW CHUBBY do they need to feel? I know they are small sized birds, but shouldnt they have meat to them?
Ive got some crunched up crackers soaked in milk, and mixed with some game start crumbles (higher protein then chick start) She's eaten about 4 bites, which is a good start... Anyone know a quick energy boost that will get them going? Already got some sugar water... need ideas that I might have missed or not even thought about. plz These gals nuzzled my slippers last night, sure would hate to lose them after just getting them. Hope all damage is past done and now they can just get fat and sassy.

Skand Quik Chick from McMurray seems to work wonders if you can get her to drink. Otherwise maybe try pedialyte until you can get some Quik Chick. You can always do the apple cider vinegar too, I am more impressed with apple cider vinegar results than I am with the Avia Charge 2000 results. I used Quik Chick for my chicks and then vinegar and Avia (separately) and the Avia does not seem to be having the results they promise for the chicks. I have heard about the warm oatmeal too. And mushy canned cat food (not chunks). I put my house chicken on a diet of cat food and chick starter for her first week and she perked right up too. Side note: I really want silkies. I think Mark would have me committed though. I might have myself locked up too. Someday, though, when I have my own place.

Okie yup, Skand and Queen Scoot are right. Use regular yarn in whatever color you want, but I matched colors, with your fun fur. You will just be crocheting with two strands at the same time. It works really well. The fun fur is so thin you barely notice, but your pattern might just turn out a little bigger than it says. Just follow the pattern. You might just come up with a slightly bigger chick. Adjust parts if adding wings or whatnot to go with the size the body ends up being.

hehehe I'm fixing to give it a bath.
Jim just came in and told me he had to put one of the boys down. Poor thing didnt even have the energy to open his eyes or lift his head. Dangit! Why cant grown adults learn to take care of the animals they insist on having? I'm about worried to an ulcer, I traded him these silkies for some of MY BIRDS! My stoogie (handheld's ole lady, the blind roo), MY sunset, stoogie's protege... then other chicks, quail.. all on good faith that this guy knows what he's doing... He sure acted like he knew about birds. He knows breeds etc.. shouldnt he know how to feed them?

Oh Skand

We lost a hen in our outside coop Friday night for no apparent reason. Grrr. I wish that it didn't always make me feel like I am doing something wrong, even though I know that I am doing everything I can. It has been a rough winter.

Okie....{{{HUGS}}}} As you know, our 4.5yo son is Autistic. He was diagnosed at 25 months with moderate to severe autism. Right now, dealing with him is like having a 12-18mo old child in a strong 4.5yo body.

He goes to therapy 4 days a week. Speech, Physical, Occupational and Oral Motor(feeding) therapies. Also, the place he goes has started a preschool this year for the autistic children and incorporate their therapies into a school type layout for them. Between our health insurance and his Medicaid, it's all covered 100% thank God!

Gregory's done super and is actually saying a few words now. Still will only drink from a bottle, not ready to potty train AT ALL, only eats baby food, yogurt, oatmeal and applesauce.

Jenny McCarthy's book, Louder than Words, is excellent! It's a quick read, too. She has a new book out, but I haven't read it yet.

If you need to talk, please feel free to PM me and I'll send you my phone number ;-)

Well, I gave her a bath. Sure did help her smell out, now instead of manure factory, its more of a wet dog/manure smell. She's taken a few more bites of the cracker/milk/crumble mixture, gotten a drink of water, and is now sleeping it off. She's laying more towards the front, with her butt up higher then her head.. is that good?
