Crochet "Chat"

oooooooh Is that one of those things that you hold in your hand and it slips out cause it's a continuous tube? Walmart *should* have it in the toy isle in their 88 cents isle..the one that has the cheapie toys in it. Hope this helps.

I have the greatest news!! Some might not think it is so great but after loosing 2 of my hens awhile back this is GREAT news to me. Last night I got home really late(1am) from helping my bro. put up blueberry jam. He had never done anything like that so I went to teach him and got a pint of blueberry jam for my trouble. Anyway, after I got home, caught up on my BYC reading and was ready for bed when I looked out in the back yard to check for coons and there were 2 on top of the chicken house trying to find a way in. I ran and got my DH out of bed (he is a much better shot than me). He shot one off the roof and shot at the second one and it fell behind the shed. We could still hear it moving around so we went to go find it. He shot what we thought was the 2nd one. We went to find the first one he shot and found 2 laying there. It turned out he never missed the second one but there was a 3rd one. He got them all!!

I was so excited after that I couldn't sleep.
I guess you could say we celebrated the 4th early with all the noise the gun made.
Hope everyone had a good 4th. We are going over to my sisters house for a fish fry later and fireworks.

Glad you all got em too! Dont want nothing getting your chickies .
I let our 39 chickies/guineas out of their run to free range today... I was scared but they loved it and to my surprise they ventured pretty far in our yard... after awhile I just sat on the back porch and watched em while crocheting

Rocket I hope your hen gets better

I hope every one is having a Great weekend

It's raining here, this will upset DH's plans. He has worked really hard this week on his boat. He was wanting for him and I to watch the fireworks while on the lake in his boat

He is usually one of the 8 men trained to set off the Big Fireworks. They have been doing this for the past 6 years at the Country Club. Thisyear he told the Fire Chef that he wasn't going to assist. He said Not this time, for the 1st time I am going to watch them with my wife.

By the way here are my 2 new babies. The larger 1 was out of it's egg 1 1/2 days while the Itty Bitty was still trying to peck out. I ended up helping it out of the shell, So Itty Bitty still has some cleaning up needed which the other one has been helping with. They are both eating and drinking well.

AWWWWWW! *melt* Karan, I want ducks now! I don't even think they get uncute when they are big. I have always liked ducks...

Alas, our hen didn't make it.

. We are now down to 44 chickens from 50. Tomorrow is the big disinfecting cleaning day of the coop. I feel bad for my DH who has to do all the work, because baby squirrel girl and I can't go in the coop with all the ick. I will have to think of something to do to make it up to him. I just get so bummed every time we lose a chicken. We have lost 3 of our pullets now since they have been outside.

And I know we have a lot of chickens, but it still bums me out. And my beautiful rooster is still all scraggly. I am not sure what is keeping his chest and butt feathers from growing back in. But I will be tending to them with lots of spoiling once the coop is clean. They need some feasts of yogurt and other special foods to boost them back into health.

We hope to go to the zoo after that coop project is done tomorrow.

Congrats Algo on getting those coons!!! I like coons, but I know I don't want any after my chickens.

that's all I need right now. *sigh* I feel like I have lost so many chickens in the last couple of months...and we don't even have any predators right now. Just waiting for that to be the next thing.

Keep up the good work, Chix! You have quite a business going there. Remind me to ask you for marketing tips if I ever need some for starting up a business.

Hope everyone is having a great 4th!

FrChuckW - Tractor Supply I can do. I will go by them on Monday.

If they don't have it I'll check with the hatcheries. I've got a homemade one done up right now but its with the baggies and its leaking.

Jen4 - I am happy your babies got to free range today and done a good job.

I can't wait to be able to let mine out when they get big.

Algo - Congrats on the coons... They along with armadillos can be such a pain.

Wish I could free range my chickens but we have too many critters here that would like them for dinner. It's too hot to sit on the porch and crochet right now but will enjoy it later in the year when it cools down. For now I do it inside where it's nice and cool.

We had 2 ducklings hatch just recently. Itty Bitty and Peepers . I had to help Itty Bityy out of the shell as Itty had been trying to get out for almost 2 days. They both were eating and drinking well last night.

Well this morning Itty Bitty had past

little Peepers is alone . Right now I have Peepers in a stocking cap with small stuffed frog on my lap. It doesn't look as if any of the other 8 eggs in the hatcher are going to hatch. I have 14 more in the incubator on the turner, they are about 18 days away from hatching.

I don't know I sure hope Peepers will do ok with me and the frog.

The chickies loved it yesterday... but they where making me nervous, cause they where exploring pretty far from their chicken run/coop area. But everything was ok and we got them all back in... might let them out later this evening for an hour or 2. I just love watching em explore.......

Oh I'm going to post a blog about it, if anyone wants to check it out.
