Crochet "Chat"

Thanks Algo. I'm a pattern book junkie & stumbled upon one for doily looking dish cloths...all the excuse I needed to buy a bunch of colored thread

I've always liked thread crochet (patterns with diagrams are best by far), but who wants doilies anymore?

I really like that afghan and shawl. I have to take a break from the skinny stuff too. I finished a tablecloth for one of my daughters not so long ago and sent it to her for her birthday. In my guest room I have a canopy bed I inherited from my step mom and on it is the canopy I crocheted for her 30 years ago. It's still just like new. I also have the tablecloth I crocheted for her back in 1968 as a wedding present when she married my dad. I use it on holidays. I use more yarn for crocheting now as it's easier for these poor old hands. I'm thankful I can still do pretty much what I want to do though.

Thanks guys. The Lion Suede looks much better in person! The shawl is kind of fun cuz it's like a big doily

Wow B, tablecloths & canopies...I don't think my attention span would last that long...they'd end up in the UFO pile!

I've had to make the jump to ergonomic hooks...I hooked my way to tennis elbow earlier this year & had to do something as I refuse to quit crocheting. Where there's a will...

For the thread stuff, I got an interchangeable steel hook set from Boye & fitted the handle with one of those long foam tube grips...the bigger handle seems to do the job...directs the discomfort to the thread holding hand which only flares up on little stuff. My only complaint is that I have to periodically tighten the screw-collar that holds the hook to the handle (but I can live with that in order to keep crocheting).

For the big stuff I got the purple interchangeable set from ProvoCraft & I love it!

I do. I sell mine for $1.50 doz. Once you establish your clients they will threaten you that you have to keep chickens forever because they just can't ever ever go back to the store eggs again.

The Secret Santa gifts last year seemed to be a handmade item and a couple of little things personal to the person. I got 4 of those handmade soldier bracelets from Athena while she was in Iraq..my daughter promptly confiscated ALL of them, lol! I sent to Skand as my SS partner and had made her a cork wreath and a scarf from nice yarn that was long enough to wrap about 4 times around her neck, may have put a beaded christmas spider in there too, can't remember now..but last year I think the gifts were nice and modest, don't overdue because invariably someone wont or cant and feelings will be hurt about who did what. It's not my show this year but please, whoever has my name, one item is perfectly wonderful and certainly all that is expected.

What??? You mean you're not supposed to stuff as many gifts as possible into one of those big priority mail boxes? I thought that's why we exchanged names so early...so we'd have plenty of time for stuffing

Hey everyone, just got home from the hospital and had to check in and check some emails too. My mother is still there and not sure when she is going to be home but it is not as serious as we first thought. Gall stones and pankerious (sp) blocked from the stones.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Does not feel like the weekend to me since I didn't work.
Going to get some sleep befor I go back to the hospital tomorrow or later today since it is actually Sunday now lol.

Glad to hear your Mom is ok! Hope she gets better soon. I lost my min pin Bonnie. I found her this morning in her bed. She passes away sometime between 12:30 and 6:30 this morning. She was my dad's dog and when he passed away and my stepmom had to go to a nursing home I took her because my stepmom was devastated and worried that someone that she didn't know would get Bonnie. I don't know what really happened but she was only 8. My German Shepherd Jada is 14 and I expect she'll go before too much longer. Life goes on I guess. I'm getting 10 eggs a day now and although my hens are supposed to lay brown eggs I have one that's laying white. As for the SS I'm having fun thinking of what to send.
