Or...
Oh heck, who am I kidding! I like so many different color schemes I would drive myself crazy trying to pick one! Maybe you could pick a few favorite themes for a poll and have people vote when you start the swap thread itself. Wow I never realized how tough this one detail could be! So... man..y...gor..geous....colors! Too... hard... to pick.......

Hi Lindsey~ Sorry, but I had a million errands to run today and have been away from the computer. Yes, the finished product should be a 6 inch granny square (square shape) more like the example #1. It can be any pattern of Granny Square. There are so many free patterns out there. Here's a site I go to sometimes. www.crochetcabana.com

Now the second example book of motifs does have a small section of granny squares in it as well, but finished product should be 6 inch square. So none of the other motif shapes like triangle, hexagon, circle etc....just 6" Granny Squares (square shaped). I know it gets confusing. I actually bought that book last spring. The colorful cover intrigued me. I think baustin and now Sunny Dawn has it as well.

Hmmm....maybe an idea for a swap in the future.

Oh, I understand that they need to all be squares. :) I was just wondering if there was an actual difference between a granny square and a square shaped motif, and ifs either counted as long as it was square and 6 inches.

A motif swap would be fun! Funny story about the book - I knew my sis wanted it, so I purchased it for her b-day - about a week before her b-day some friends came to visit, and guess what they brought for her?! Yup, same book. So now we each have our own copies, which isn't such a bad thing after all. (The boarders book by the same author is really nice, too.)

Lots and lots of pretty color schemes here:

My fave is this one: http://sarahhearts.com/blog/2011-05-23/52/

This
is gonna be fun!

You guys are making me want to go buy new yarn just for the SWAP.

You know I really don't know the difference between Granny Square and a motif square. Can any experienced hookers tell us the difference????
big_smile.png
I'm guess motif square is just a term to describe a fancy granny square.
tongue.png
I don't see why you couldn't use one of those motif square designs as long as it had solid edges and not lacy, airy or bumpy, so everyone could join them together.

That story about the book is hilarious!!! I guess everyone knew exactly what to get your sis for her B-day!

I haven't tried one pattern out of it yet.
Ooooo....so excited!!!!!

May I make a suggestion to make them Fall colors being we are going into Fall. And that it is my favorite season, with all the burnt oranges and golden yellows and rusty reds. What do you all think?

I just found some patterns in my back stock that belong to my Great Grandmother. They are of bedspreads and table covers. All from 1945-1949. Now how is that for keeping up with stuff. Lol They are done with the small cotton thread.

I like that idea!

Oh, and once we decide on a theme, I'd be happy to put together a little palette thing for a visual reference.

I think I've decided on a square pattern, too... yay!
