Crockpot (slow cooker) incubator - take 2

The broody is almost ready, muahaha!

She’s sticking more to the nest today, a total pine cone and the banshee screech has reached a whole new level

She’s not quite ready for me to bring her indoors yet

soon.....

aww, what cuties! My cat has a knack of just eating the heads off his catches... sometimes if I’m lucky the kitten will finish off the rest. But more often than not I will get half a vole/mouse carcass lying in the middle of the cat room...
So does our outdoor kitty, Figaro, he killed a big rat a while back, and it is still rotting in the yard.

I love her!

It’s quite funny watching them try to settle into the nest box at night where they hatched
My hen that raised chicks last year still laid with her babies in the nest box until they were 6 months old! I ended up having to lift them onto the roost every night until they went on their own. 😂

I’m going to have to try that, poor momma is in the floor 🙁

That’s so gross, lol.
Mine dropped one in the house behind some storage bins....

I only found it when the room started smelling like something had died, which for once wasn’t figurative 😂

I almost thought it was still alive because it shifted a bit. Turns out it was just full of maggots :sick

How awesome! I can’t believe she’s broody again! My Sunny still is mothering her 7 week old chicks!! It’s quite funny watching them try to settle into the nest box at night where they hatched 😳
Oh wow, you guys have some dedicated mommas. I took the babies from mine when they were 4 weeks old. She didn’t seem to miss them at all 🤣

I snuck broody Paint indoors!
Still screechy, with a good chance of staying on the nest tomorrow morning.

Some of the eggs are rather porous and thin, so I’m thinking of giving her the stronger shelled eggs to sit on in order to minimize risk of her breaking an egg.

Time to go candle and sort some eggs!
