Crossroads Poultry Show 2011-History and Reflection

I know that the silkie club will have birds either in a silent auction or a raffle....we leave Thursday am and will set up our sales area that afternoon....cant wait to see all the nice birds of every breed.

Some more good advice for first time poultry show attendees....

1) DO NOT HANDLE ANYONE'S BIRD BUT YOUR OWN!

2) Do not open any coop but your own.

3) Do not feed or water anyone's bird but your own.

many will use zip/wire ties after judging to discourage folks from handling their birds.

Use care when cooping out. double check the coop tags with your leg band to make certain it is your bird. We have arrived home with the wrong bird before. With 10,000+ entries, everyone will be anxious about coop out.

If you buy a bird, get a receipt. Even on a napkin. That proves at coop out you bought the bird.

Anyone caught handling another's birds may be accused of stealing. we do not want that to happen. So look and take photos to your hearts content. If you want to touch, find the owner and ask. may seem silly, but you would be shocked at what happens at shows.

Oh, DO NOT talk to a judge while he/she is judging.

Do not enter the aisle while they are judging.

Since there will be a lit of judges, many aisles will be closed at one time. But many othesr will be open.

Buy raffle tickets!

Bid on silent auctions!

Buy a show coop!

Buy a bird(s)!

Find Walt and ask him EVERYTHING you have wanted to ask!

I might add that if you want to find someone....get their cell phone # cuz you will never find them at this show if you just walk around looking for them.

What time is the judging? I will be coming down on Friday with my parents on Friday night, so I will be at the show all day Saturday, and all morning Sunday. What is the best time to find the birds that you want to buy?

My parents are planning to leave around noon, and its a 6 hour drive to the show, so I will not be able to be at the show 'til Saturday.

You may be able to do that. Depends how persuasive you can be. Is there a BYC table?

No BYC table, unfortunately.

But both Barb (BarnGoddess01) and I will have oodles of BYC stuff to hand out...you just have to find us in that honkin' huge place!
