Well my "kittens" will soon be two, and still sneak onto the counter.

The female especially irritates me, because she will tear into the bread bag (I have a bread basket on one counter). Laying foil over it keeps them away, but looks horrible. They know it's wrong, because if I head toward the kitchen I can hear the "thumpa-thump" of their feet quickly hitting the floor because they know they've been busted. But I still love them!!

I have no idea what I did, but my cats don't get on the kitchen counter OR table.

DH used to smack them off of the table, and we learned that they wouldn't get up there if the chairs were all pushed all the way up so that solved that. Now I guess it's just a habit that they DON'T get up there, cos we can leave the chairs any whicha way and leave food out and they still don't get on the table.

When I was doing some remodel work they slept on the kitchen counter where the sun came in the window, but after I got it loaded up with the dish drain rack and other kitchen-y stuff, they never got on the countertop again.

I consider myself either very smart to have outsmarted the cats
or just very lucky!
