Damaged caruncle on muscovy

If a vet could have had access it could have had stitches to put it back in place, I doubt there is anything to be done without stitches
I even wondered if he mixed it up with a snapping turtle.
I thought of that too. Are you in Florida? or somewhere else south. We even have them here in mts of Western NC.
I'd sure hate to think someone did that to him. They are hated in so many places.

Sure hope your fellow gets healed up without any more problems. There is a spray called Veterycin it's for wounds and infections if you are in TSC might want to get some that way you don't have to touch his face or her and spray the area. I am sure that was painful.
Please keep us updated on them. And more pictures when you can.

Google has conflicting information on whether his bill will heal or re-grow. Do you know? He doesn't eat the cracked corn off the ground as easily as before. And I don't think it's healthy that his tongue is always exposed. Plus, he gets the cracked corn stuck (temporarily) in the splintered area of his bill.

Here are some pictures taken the morning I noticed his injuries. He was obviously in pain, sitting for a day or two with his head under his wing. Plus, he didn't deep groomed like usual.

That poor duck has one heck of an injury. I don't think that kind of beak injury will regrow. From my experience with birds of prey, when they got a crack in their beak, we would grind down their beak at that point. The crack would not heal, so you grind it down to prevent the crack from growing. I know birds of prey have continuous growth of their beak and the tip chips off on things like rocks. Non-releasable ones we had to grind the tip down so they can easily. I am not sure if duck's beaks do the same thing. If they do, he is likely going to need help one way or another to make sure the crack heals properly and does not expand.

I am pretty sure his bill isn't going to grow back. You might check into something like dentist use for fillings or some type of safe plaster. If you have a bird sanctuary they maybe able to help. Here we have Carolina Waterfowl rescue and they have done some amazing things with some of the waterfowl they have rescued. So might even contact them about opinions. He's going to need a deep bowl for scooping his feed. And you might even want to try a soupy mix so he doesn't have to pick it up but just drink it. My birds actually love soup which is what I call it at end of day when I combine all the feed bowl into one and put some water over it. If your going to put this out for the day though I'd add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to it so mold doesn't set in. When I make up Fermented feed I use ACV along with warm water to pour over the feed I am fermenting.

My muscovy friend showed up yesterday, looking very disheveled. Of late, he has looked pretty good, except for his face. He was his old self. I took this picture of him this morning. I don't know what went wrong.

Poor guy, have you ever seen anyone messing with these ducks? causing harm to them?

Does he look like he may have any infection? or possibly he isn't able to eat enough to stay healthy?
Breaks my heart to think someone may have done this to him.
I'd say he needs medical attention. Did you try an contact anyone in the link I gave you?

He is eating well, although he has to eat from a cup, if I throw the cracked corn on the ground, he can't pick it up easily. But I've seen him foraging around the plants, looking for insects, I expect. We live on a small lake, only 16 residents. They don't seem like the type to cause him harm. I'm not the only one who feeds him. I don't know why he's not grooming himself like he did just a couple of days ago. I can actually see some of his skin between the feathers. I can't see anything that looks like a wound.
