I thought of that too. Are you in Florida? or somewhere else south. We even have them here in mts of Western NC.I even wondered if he mixed it up with a snapping turtle.
He is eating well, although he has to eat from a cup, if I throw the cracked corn on the ground, he can't pick it up easily. But I've seen him foraging around the plants, looking for insects, I expect. We live on a small lake, only 16 residents. They don't seem like the type to cause him harm. I'm not the only one who feeds him. I don't know why he's not grooming himself like he did just a couple of days ago. I can actually see some of his skin between the feathers. I can't see anything that looks like a wound.Poor guy, have you ever seen anyone messing with these ducks? causing harm to them?
Does he look like he may have any infection? or possibly he isn't able to eat enough to stay healthy?
Breaks my heart to think someone may have done this to him.
