Dark Egg Breeds Thread

love all the colors-- the dark egg makes the group all the more special
They are very nice!

Such lovely colors!

And nice that a more rare color penedesencas still has such a nice dark color egg!
They are from Our Fly Babies--they have been working on the Partridge Penes and the word on the street is that they have some of the best in the US.

I have another Penedesenca laying eggs now!

Of course it is much darker in person. The spekles on the bottom look almost black.

I just went to the link. It is closed. I didn't know there were any in the US. I so wanted some quechuas. I would find a way to make room for them. The closest ones I ever found were in Canada and she wouldn't do the paperwork to ship to the US.
Reading that thread, there seem to be a quantity which were shipped all over the lower 48.
Perhaps some still have them and will be willing to sell you some eggs or chicks?
Best,
Karen in PA

Awesome looking at all of dark eggs so I want to share a pic of mine from my Marans and Welsummers :)

In the 2nd pick the Marans are to the left and Welsummers to the right

Im hoping the Marans darken up more this spring when they start laying good again
