Day 9 - sticky "sap" on eggs?

I have a chick!!!!!!! The webcam turned off on me but I came in to a vocal peeping chick!!!!!

He can stay in there until the others hatch?? I only have 1 other with a pip so far

Welcome, chick!!

My second chick hatched! It's head seems to be stuck in the egg...he keeps trying to pull it out but it comes with him. What's happening??

Yeah!!!! So great. Congratulations!! I would
Hang in there with the other chick just yet. I ended up pulling my little one out and putting her in the brooder because she was so active and kept bumping and even pecking at one if the other eggs pips. Unfortunately I had to leave them and bring my son to the emergency room and I have no idea what my remaing three eggs are up to!

I have 3 chicks in there now! What a hot mess! Those 2 poor eggs that are left are getting pretty beat up

If you open while other eggs have pipped or cracked then you run the risk of shrink wrapping the little buggers. Hold off a while. A newly hatched chick could go for up to 3 days before you move him if he had to. When every body who is going to hatch has hatched and they're all dry and fuzzy, then you can move them.

I just got home from an overnight stay in the hospital with my son, and couldn't help but wonder what was going on in my incubator. Last night before I had to go to the hospital, I removed the first hatch little one, and left the three blue Ameraucana eggs in their respective triangular cornersof the BMA. Two had pipped, and then nothing. Well, I just walked in the door to two little black fluff balls. All ready standing, chirping, fluffy and dry. I quickly removed them too, and into the brooder they went. My first one is all ready bossing the two new ones around... jeezz.. and so it begins. lol

Last blue egg no pips, or anything, but I do think I see it moving. Maybe I will get to see one of them actually hatch out? Urrrgggghhhh....

Keep us posted Raychel,

I hope your last one lets you see it hatch! I recorded a video of one of my mine this before...you know, before the incubator had a ton of condensation on it!

One is currently zipping and the other one I still haven't seen a pip.

Worst case scenario...when I get into school tomorrow morning and if the last egg hasn't pipped what should I do? help it??

Also, does anyone know what kind of chicks I have? The kids were asking me today because they were all expecting them to be yellow! :)

I have been reading away, and I have found some people recommend to leave the egg until Day 25.. I swear I see the tiniest of movements, but wonder if I am imagining it? Good thing is there is no seepage or smell at all, so I am praying I wake up tomorrow morning, and I will see a fuzz ball. I think I have only seen the one picture of your chicks head. The first thing I thought was perhaps Barred Rock, as they are born with dots on their head like that. Do they all have that dot? Do they have yellow tipped wings and yellow bellies and butts? What color are their legs? If they are barred rocks, then sometimes you can get an idea if they are boys or girls by the dot on their head. Here is a picture and a link to some photos. See if you they look like this.

Stunning male and female when they are fully grown!

Check out this wonderful thread and see if you see similarities...

eeee! I think that's them!! Little yellow bums were beyond adorable!

The last egg is still yet to pip. If it hasn't pipped by the time I get to school tomorrow should I take the others out and let it sit there without being bothered? I hope it goes overnight, but this is just incase! All 4 of the others hatched within 8 hours of each other - it was a very exciting day! They seem to be actually calming down now. I'm watching them on webcam, and they were putting that poor lone egg through the ringer between sleeping on it, rolling it, pecking it and whatever else they were up to.

So. So cool. I am getting the video of the recording I took this morning of chick #2 hatching. I will post it when i can.

That was the EXACT scene in my Brinsea too. The first one was so active, he was beating those other eggs up. I don't even have a pip in my remaining egg. I have been stareing at it so long, its getting me wacky! Tomorrow, unless there is a huge zip, I would just take them out and into your waiting brooder and remove those old egg shells. The chick that hatched early for me is superman. I am thinking by his behavior it may be a roo. He is bullying everyone. A fair amount of that is just normal working out the pecking order, but it's a bit much....

Looking forward to your video, especially since I didn't get to see any hatch!
