Did all of the chicks hatch together? How many others are there?

There were a total of 4 including the one that died and the other 3 are with the hen

Sometimes it's fine to give them a second chance if they were new to the broody game.

She likely accidentally shifted wrong, doesn't make her a bad mama. I had one hen that had like 11 babies, wonderful mom. She accidentally killed several trying to chase away nice one night. Unfortunately things just go wrong sometimes

If I stepped on my child and killed it I'm sure I wouldn't be allowed to parent ever again!! ... Although if it was an accident child was killed I guess the parent could have another chance...
